The media and people will rip into Buddy for a 'bad' effort today.

A 'bad' effort that consisted of about 10 shots on goal.

He wasn't accurate, but he wasn't alone.

He's a gem. Rip into him all you want, I don't think any Hawk supporters give a hoot ... he plays for us and I know 15 other teams that would want him as well.

Good on him. You need a touch of arrogance sometimes and this kid has a heap of it. The guy is 21 and certainly has blinkers on. When it comes off people dream about him for the entire week. When it doesn't his trusty sidekick in Roughy gets the job done.

In another 2-3 years he will probably be a bit more team orientated but I see nothing wrong with what he is doing at the moment.

Buddy is the player I love to hate. When we play him I boo him and stick into him. When im watching him neutral want him to kick a bag.

Definately agree about not passing it. He's not always that terrible a kick, just that he ALWAYS leads (lately hes taken a few contested grabs) so many of his marks are wide and hard kicks. Although today it was a combination of this and poor kicking

The whole team played poorly today, but still won.

Franklin is our primary forward, big deal. He didnt kick straight. Each team has a forward they go to that amount of times, it is just, franklin actually is good enough to get the ball. People forget that.

Also note that Roughead kicked 5. People forget/choose not to mention that. The tools who say we can't win if Franklin isn't playing, or not playing well, you have been proven wrong, again

The coach probably said to him..if you get it inside 50 have a crack. I thought all of his shots were fine, he just kicked bad. Like the Fox commentators said he's going to win you 10 times more games than he loses for you.

I totally agree.

Reminds me of a young Jordan who only knew how to get the ball and drive to the basket, but with time learnt to use his ability to go to the hoop to fake and take the pull up jumper and use the double team to bring other players into the game.

Buddy never played at the top level in juniors so hes still just learning the game he'll be twice as good as he is now in 3 years.

First week in the opening six rounds he hasn't had a blinder. Still had 8 shots on goal, just didnt have his kicking boots on. And what did it show? It showed that even when buddy isn't on song we have other forwards who can bob up and win us the game. Roughie kicked 5 and was the dominant presence up forward when buddy had an off game

Just addressing the 'pass off' thing, he leads the coleman and has the ability to kick 5-10 goals a game. Why would we want him passing the ball as the first option if he can kick the goals?

I will admit though, I was praying they didn't kick the ball to him during that last quarter

lol how about the fact that statistically he is in front of so many 'greats' at the same age? I think he only one he was slightly behind is richo. Had reiwoldt, brown, pav, even carey covered.

If you don't think he's a great player, something is wrong with you. The flip side is one average game doesn't make him an average player. 8 shots on goal, just didn't have his kicking boots on. Fortunately our team has the depth to cover that

I'm sure many other players started off better than such greats, but what made the greats was what became of them, not what potential they had.

There are some numb nuts who post here, really.

Franklin is a forward, whose job it is to kick goals. Sometimes he will pass it off, sometimes he doesn’t. So? He had a dud day with his kicking. He has those sorts of days, as he did last season. The reality is he still leads the Coleman. Its no surprise he has the most behinds, 9 ahead of the next.

If his scores were taken out of the game today, we still would have won. Maybe now people will see we have a few more scoring options other than Buddy.

As for him looking happy, and enjoying himself on the field, only a dead sh*t would find that annoying. Its called personality.

reminds me of the talk Tredrea used to generate. I think the same rule applys here, everyone who bad mouths him, would be the 1st to jump to his defence if he wore their teams colours, personally i love watching buddy play. Its nice to have an oppostion player i can sit back and watch and enjoy still now that James Hird has retired.
