my current side im settled on for now. thoughts? trying something diff with the mids but oping it works and really liking this side at the moment
I like the idea, but if I was going with just 3 Midfield Prems it would be so I could get rid of playing rookie price players in defence and up forward, except maybe McDonald. With Clurey, Fasalo and JKH all starting you really haven't done that.

you're braver than me trying with 3-0-7 mid although Clurey + Fasolo on ground probably won't eventuate round 1 personally i would split a premium into 2 mid prices in forward and defence because you can probably afford 1 or 2 of them. but that's only the way i'd do it. if you were to find suitable F5 and D6 rookies i would have a very similar team.

At this stage running with:
Def: Bartel McVeigh Mitchell McDonald Laidler Langford Georgiou Fuller

Mid: Ablett Selwood Pendlebury DBeams CBeams Sheed Ellis Polec Michie Dunstan

Ruck: Goldstein Sandilands Currie Thurlow

Fwd: Dangerfield Martin Franklin Pavlich Caddy Rohan Kersten Kennedy Harris

112.5k to play with

I really don't think it's possible to take those 3 mids together, you just miss too much elsewhere. You'd ideally want McDonald at D6

If by those three you mean Ablett Selwood and Pendlebury you have to, if you want a shot at overall. Anyone who isn't starting with them is behind the 8 ball)

The only thing I might do, to be honest, is consider tinkering with the rookies (for example someone like Sheed could become Crouch if he is going to play which frees up cash) or the forward premiums and using the cash to bolster the defence, is tricky because the rookie options arent great this year outside the midfield.

You don't have to at all. You are behind the 8 ball paying 2 million for 3 players.

Value for dollar is the key eh.

Well it is, he's paid full whack for 8-9 players. I think you are in trouble if you aren't going in with the value like Watson, Cotchin, Murphy, Beams in the mids and even the 500k ones down back like Hanley and Simpson. Of the premium backs I only have Mitchell. I see no value in the rest. Yet IMO I Have a stronger everything (besides rucks where I've gone Pyke) than his team. IMO his team is built more towards making money than winning overall like he said. I'm deadset against taking all three of those mids. If I'm wrong I won't be wrong by much and I'll still pick them up after their byes because they will be top five mids. Problem is if you miss Murphy at 500k you'll be falling over yourself to pay $650 later in the season when he's a top five mid (according to Gingy:oops:)

I agree with you to an extent although I still think you can get away with having both Gaz & Pendles in your team without having to sacrifice too much in other areas.

I reckon you could still do a fair bit of work to improve it.

The key is your ruck division. I'd go one of the two and then Sandilands.

Take that 300k saved & upgrade Fasolo to a top Forward.

First draft of my team would appreciate some feedback.

With a 3.5x mid premo set up, you really need to have your defence (& fwd) absolutely solid, Suckling at D3 & Shaw at D4 isn't that!

Suckling should be at D5 and Lmac at D6 - note KK yet to play in preseason!

He's a premo ruck, but you need to downgrade Goldy to cheaper 1st ruck (look to eventually upgrade rucks to best performers - last year Goldy & Minno weren't in top 10 by cost initially)

Make sure no rookie on your benches cost more than 135k,

Keep playing around with your side and see what you come up with & post again,

All FWIW & IMO,

I took your advice and made a few changes. Made the backline stronger as you suggested, and downgraded my rucks. Any other changes to be made? I still have $128,100 in the bank so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks all

My take is put Mcdonald back to def get someone like ellis, polac, michie for kk saves you 30 already.get rid of one of scotty thompson or hanley for someone like hurn/swallow/grimes.unsure on Tmitch in the mids maybe daisy Or m murphy if you can get him.

Think you've gone overboard on the DPPs. There is no reason to start McDonald, Dangerfield, Mitchell in the midfield. For starters, get rid of kolodnahs whatever for McDonald and put Polec into your starting side and put M.Crouch on your bench. Put Mitchell into your backs for R.Shaw or Suckling and use the cash to upgrade one of Hogan or Rohan to a 4th prem forward or a fallen prem like Pavlich.
