UnderstandableMy bad. Read it wrong.
Wrong you are WillieNillie. Blues beat the Crows a week before Essendon did. And 2 weeks before that, Carlton also beat Essendon in the qualifying final as well as drawing earlier in the year. From a non WCE perspective I'd say Essendon vs Adelaide in the 1993 Prelim Final. Both teams were absurdly better then Carlton that year and for Bombers to come back like that was amazing
From memory the Crows kicked terribly that game and should have been alot closer to the Blues and the same thing again in the Prelim. Reckon they blew a GF opportunity that year for sure because I felt it was fairly even amongst all of the top 6 that yearWrong you are WillieNillie. Blues beat the Crows a week before Essendon did. Both teams were not absurdly better than Carlton, certainly not the Crows anyway.
13.8 To 8.20 backs up what I posted aboveFrom memory the Crows kicked terribly that game and should have been alot closer to the Blues and the same thing again in the Prelim. Reckon they blew a GF opportunity that year for sure because I felt it was fairly even amongst all of the top 6 that year
Yep. Anyone could have saluted. We nearly beat WCE in Perth in the elimination final. Neck a neck most of the 2nd half and lost by 2 goals. We were up by 4 goals early too. Beat Geelong twice that year. From what I have watched, these two stand out:
People forget just how open the 1992 premiership was, with seven clubs having a chance until the last round and even the first finals week demonstrating that none of the six teams in the finals were remotely out of their depth.
- Round 19, 1987, Carlton v Sydney
- the Blues played the most marvellous man-on-man football to keep a Swans team that had kicked 97 goals in three games to just 3.5 (23) for three quarters. In the last quarter Sydney had (by my calculation) just 10 or so uncontested possessions
- Round 18, 1992, St. Kilda v West Coast
- Saints score 14.3 (87) to 2.8 (20) in the last three quarters with some amazing skills. Match notable for huge half-time hailstorm
