So based on the feedback so far we have had a meeting with the production company that co-produces Cats TV with us. The feedback you guys gave us was instrumental in choosing some shows for next year. As a result some new shows that are expected to be on weekly next season are:

A weekly show with Chris Scott where fans can post questions on Twitter or Facebook for Chris to answer. He'll answer the questions each week that are selected.

A show hosted by a player who will roam around the changerooms, gym and players lounge asking questions of the boys and seeing what they are up to.

Three players will be starring in a new challenge show. Each week they will compete in a task with points awarded and tallied with a winner at the end of the year.

Thoughts?

This is a good point guys. In the past it has been hard to let everyone know when the open sessions will be due to the fact the fitness guys can change the session an hour before hand. Chris Scott is big on letting the fans in to watch the guys train so everyone will be making a more concerted effort to get the info out. We will utilise Twitter, Facebook and perhaps even BigFooty to let people know if there are changes.

Thanks for answering my question. I and i am sure many others would get down to training a lot more if we knew when it was on. Whilst also understanding it can change at a moments notice. I am sure the players enjoy seeing fans down at training, (i hope the do).

Please please please just anything on the Cats VFL team, even an acknowledgment that they exist would be an improvement.Having followed the Cats for over 50 years, other than premierships the greatest thing in football for me is following the progress of the next group of kids.
Living interstate the only way I can do this is via the Internet. And what coverage they getting at present is nothing short of disgraceful.
So please make an old man happy.

Hi!
This season each week we had a video with Dale Amos about the week's game and who played well as well as a chat each week with a VFL player. We also had a weekly wrap of the weeks game as an article, plus a feature article wach week with a VFL player.
What other stuff would you like to see?
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks Tom my apologies to all, obviously I'm not using the site to well.
Ill go back on again this evening and see what I can find, again many thanks.

I follow all teams on FB and Twitter and it seems to me other teams get more info and updates from these sources than we do at Geelong. Especially on FB

So maybe a little more action on these would be great and much appreciated.

This all sounds awesome Tom. I'm particularly looking forward to the roaming player show. It will be good to see footage of the "inner sanctum" as well. Cheers :thumbsu:

Thanks Topper.
We definately see social media as a key communication tool going forward for us.
We have a different tack to Twitter than the other clubs. We like to make it a more personal experience where questions are answered, light hearted and funny tweets as well as letting fans know when something is breaking rather than what other clubs do which is to mainly try and sell things. The AFL actually recommends to other clubs to follow our style on twitter. We really enjoy the feedback with fans.

With Facebook we have found that the Insider angle isn't really working. So we will be launching a new Facebook page in the next couple of weeks. It will be from more a club point of view and will be updated much more regularly.

Thanks for the feedback.

Some great suggestions and progress from this it seems. Well done Tom, I am always impressed when an organisation turns to the public for ideas on how to improve its public relations.

Thanks STC.
We would be crazy not to listen to what you guys want. It is you who we are servicing. If we know what you want it makes it so much easier to provide it.

Hi Tom,

I would love to see greater draft coverage after the event when we know who our selections are. There is the usual small article outlining the obvious of each player with a photo, but it doesn't quite cut it for me. Infact, I'd go to the point of saying that the website isn't worth visiting for new draftee information.

It would be great to see an in depth draft analysis from Stephen Wells himself. This could include:-

- detailed description of each player
- draft strategy for the night (eg. players considered at each pick)
- insight to the list of players Wells brought into the night outlining who was rated where.
- a diary of notes taken throughout the year
- a Q&A blog with supporters on the website the week after the draft.

Obviously we wouldn't expect information that may give away strategy to the upcoming Pre-season & Rookie drafts, but surely there would be alot of secrets that could be shared with the supporters once the draft is completed. This type of insight would become must read items for all supporters.

Stephen Wells is one of the most intriguing people in the AFL, let alone the Geelong Footy Club. Why not take advantage of such a resource?

Cheers.

Are you able to make the facebook page more monitored... I know a mate supports the bombers and their page has updated at the end of each quarter and that type of thing, also with facebook comes people who troll other teams sites... currently on the insider page there is some collingwood twit just spamming and posting random bullsh*t.. If the page is better monitored to block/report these types that would be good.. :thumbsu:

Hi,

I thiink it would be great if the 10% members discount was available at the online store, it is difficult for members who live interstate or overseas. I get the discount as part of my membership but don't really get to use it unless I fly down for a game. Other clubs do it so I don't see why we can not.

Thanks,

Sorry to dig an old thread but i just had to say... Great work so far on the website, it has really improved from last year. The cats TV segments have been great. It's good that the club is using the web to reach out to members!

A couple of years back we had a thread something like what would you like to see on the Cats web site.

Well I've made up my mind,a bloody up grade of height and weights in the players list,a quick look at a 2009 AFL Record shows the same height and weights given on the Cats web site today for the following players,Mitch Brown,Josh Cowan,Mitch Duncan,Tom Gillies,Daniel Menzel and Nathan Vardy. All these young players will have built up over their 3 or 4 years on the list.

Come on Geelong Footy Club this is laziness,Good to Great and all that stuff keep the fans up to date.

Go Cats in 2012.

I've never really understood why it is needed. And if I owned the GFC I'd actually want it hidden. And if I was Chinese I'd want the ages to be unknown by the players mothers as well. :)

Some interesting differences here in height and weights to the 3 year old rubbish the Cats web site is putting out.
