I think you're misunderstanding on field vs off field. Clarko similarly allowed guys to do their thing. He mightn't have been soft and mushy, but he also let guys be themselves - which was great for Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis types. Similarly, Richmond internally isn't what that hard edge or whatever you'd like to call it is referring to, on field they were snide as well. Internally they might've been the cuddliest bunch of blokes ever assembled, but on field they weren't exactly friendly.Sick of this narrative. Not every team that’s won the flag has been like Hawthorn under Clarko. I’ve spoken to players who were in and around Richmond when they won 3 flags in 4 years. Couldn’t have found a more respectful, comfortable and friendly place to be at that time. Although Dimma was a bit of a hard ass, he was apprently rarely demonstrative or angry. Said that in 2017, Dimma only gave them one spray, and it was at half time of a game late in the season they ended up winning comfortably. Their imperfections were embraced, and each individual character was celebrated. Macrae has similar raps on his too. Sounds pretty nice to me
I thought strategy and tactics was meant to Hansens job. Hard to know from the outside but maybe he isn't up to it? Or maybe we haven't empowered him properly? Comes down to how we break up responsibilities.I can't tell you the number of times I have been told this
I real issue I have is the club knew this going in. WHY haven't we appointed the right people around him? Who in our coaching group is great tactically and can design and implement a modern or new game plan? Who picks the opposition apart?
I can tell people for a FACT that our game plan is very simple and never changes. Focus over summer was on defence. That's it
Agreed. Motlop, Gov, Williams and Cottrell all deserve to dropped well before Campo. Unfortunately I think we are all know exactly what is going to happen. In Charlie Out Campo. Some things change some stay the same…
People confuse aggression and accountability.Sick of this narrative. Not every team that’s won the flag has been like Hawthorn under Clarko. Campo having a go at any coach if true, is really irresponsible of him and puts his kids in a crap spot, parents of players should be not confronting coaches and i really find it hard to believe, especially considering that its after one game of football.
Im hoping its just a bit of mayo being put on something minor,
Yep, I reckon if there was any substance to this rumour, ol' mate Tom Morris would have been all over it by now.Can we just stop with the negative hypotheticals?
This week was negative enough.
I can tell you the review of the game on Sunday
focused a lot on the positives.
Would of thought a bake was in order.
Footy Class exclusive….tonight!Yep, I reckon if there was any substance to this rumour, ol' mate Tom Morris would have been all over it by now.
Love him or hate him, he can sniff this stuff out like a bloodhound.
The players aren’t stupid
I mean, law of averages suggests it
Interesting isn't it.
I would generally agree with you given the off season was supposed to focus on defense and that very area of the ground
degenerated into chaos after half time. I guess he took the "it's only round one" route and thought better of throwing the players under the bus after one game.
We have a game plan?!?!I can't tell you the number of times I have been told this

I think we all have a responsibility to not take rumors as gospel. Treat them like what they are. Rumors. And dont make concrete judgements from them or react in an extreme fashion.Anyone who dm’s a mod to relay a third hand account of a rumour and who is not willing to even put their avatar to said rumour should have the voracity of said rumour highly interrogated.
If you can’t put your online name to it but heard it through the grapevine we should have a little more circumspect on its validity.
I know we all like a bit of gossip and we are all on a knifes edge after the dismal performance but that rumour stunk from the moment I read it.
The fact that it has blossomed into tarnishing Campo Snr as a helicopter meddling wanna be senior coach fire starter is just a bit on the nose to be frank.
I would certainly hope there is robust conversations between people in footy department after our last 8 matches but this is ain’t it people.
100% repeat of what happened at BrisbaneI think Voss is so petrified of failing at this point he is doomed to fail.
This is what is known as crazy vossy.
This is what I’m thinking too. The players aren’t stupid, they would know they weren’t near the standard on Thursday night, no need to completely kill their confidence after round 1. The response is what’s important
Heresay! We’d like to strike this from the records, your honour!
Maybe Brian Cook, in retirement mode, without Frank Costa in the background isnt as good as everybody thinks.Strange, as the club knew full well when hiring him that his blind spot was being not great tactically. Brian Cook even said it on a podcast.
Dimma Hardwick was the same, then post-2016 they just took all the tactics off him, essentially changing the scope of what a head coach must be.
I seriously thought we adopted the same plan/strategy. Why wouldn't we? Have we moved away from it? Is Voss too hard to deal with? Really confusing.
This campo/voss/hamill rumour is rubbish.
And what does giving them a bake in the review do? Other than make a few fans feel good about themselvesOk, let's go with your agenda...
We lose to the Hawks by 24 points, is that response good enough??? Do we concentrate on the positives??
A few facts to take on board before you answer:
We had a FULL preseason (didn't make the granny)
We recruited a new head of everything conditioning
More players on the park, fitness is good
Improved defensive game plan (apparently)
Added options for game style (apparently), slow, fast play
Strengthened back 6
Played Richmond 1st round (bottom 2 for 2025)
There is no way some players could perform that badly again in defence, it was seriously amateurish.
However, when you have a conditional footballer like Mitch McGovern as one of your “A” graders, it could be more often than not unfortunately.
Harry is quickly joining the ranks with his insipid efforts at the ball and willingness to contest or stand up.
