Well he definitely played more of a running high half forward role at box hill. He also played as a forward last week. I'd probably call him a HF predominantly but with the scope to develop into a mid.

Let's hope he has the potential to make it to an A grade mid and achieves it.
We fix the midfield and we are half way to fixing our forward line with quality ball movement, decision making, IQ and skill execution.
Most teams have atleast 3 A grade mids including 1 elite mid
We have 1 A grader a 31 yr old Macrae
Potential Pou.
Steele looks so far off it he looks like he is carrying an injury.

Phillipou, Garcia, Henry, Wilson, Trav, Boxshall, Windy and Said are all high potential younger mids and then guys like Dow, Carroll, Clark and Bynes as depth at the moment. Dow was playing okay footy at the end of last year.

Hall is nowhere better than Murphy. Let's see how Murphy is at 22. We can then compare Murphy’s output at 22 vs Hall’s at 22.

It wasn't Hall or Reid as scenarios. St Kilda could have had Hall AND Reid. So far, including St Kilda training reports, TT is nowhere close to Reid (based on Freo’s training reports) or Wilson.

Sounds like we are a real chance at Tom.

We’re not the only club to enquire about any of the free agents, so it’s not just us they’ve rejected. There’s been considerable offered from clubs in the premiership window but to this stage the players are staying put at their clubs. They’re not turning us down to leave to another club. We will get our man eventually, we just need to continue to ask the question

There will need to be some tough calls on midfielders on the list at seasons end. Jones will most likely be delisted, my thoughts on Clark are well known (he shouldnt be on our list and traded), Byrnes is a battler who is a good backup VFL player, I get the feeling from the way Lyon etc has spoken about Dow his long term future in the game is in jeopardy (hopefully I am wrong). Carroll and Windhager are the best options to have an impact this year.

The younger players all have potential but they are not of Ashcroft/s, Lalor or Reid class and all need time to develop. When Phillipou gets back on the park he will have lost the fitness he had in the preseason and struggle to return to the midfield. Wilson may get some minutes inside but he is mostly suited to a wing at present, Boxshall has already shown to be the real 'out of the box' draftee this season.

If we move on Jones, Clark and Dow retires at seasons end, we need to add proven genuine midfielders added to the list. I wonder if Elwood Peckett will be looked at for a MSD position or we will be looking for a state league tall defender.

I think we will be selecting in the top 10 again this year - having looked at our fixture again I think we will be lucky to win 6 games this season. Time will tell but lets see if the club are going to have down year whether they can actually place themselves in the sweet spot of the draft.
