Apart from toumpas who the clowns have taken that's serious talent. Good luck keeping them all.
On that list, there's only two players who would get more than $500k.

James Frawley I would have thought was top talent at the time, certainly more runs on the board than Lever, landed Melbourne Pick 3 Compensation in the 2014 draft. Comparable with us losing Daniel Talia I'd have thought.
In no world is he as good as Talia. And Melb were happy to lose him for pick 3 was a win. Bet we wont get anything like pick 3 for Lever.
Not only arnt Melb not losing their best young talent, it looks like they are going to get our best young talent for well unders.

Melbourne hasn't had any top end talent to lose. Their list was a shambles for 10 years. Add to that coaches who weren't up to it and a culture that was so far off the mark, they were cellar dwellars year after year for a reason. The AFL took an extraordinary measure to step in and fix the place. No comparisons should be made to Melbourne. Ever. People seem to forget just how bad they were. It's only really this year that they have finally started to show something. A bit soon to be drawing comparisons against them like they are some sort of super power.

On a side note, I noticed in the quiz today on the afl website that there are two clubs who have never "won" the wooden spoon. Us, and the little brother across the road. I thought that was interesting.
That was also Melbourne's fault. When they lost the last game to the power a few years back. I will never forgive them for that

So you'd pay big overs just to retain Lever??

I'm with the club on this, pay him what they think he's worth and not $1 more.

I'm with the AFC too. Do Melbourne consider Lever's hamstring niggles that he's had on and off since preseason? He's only 21. When he rips it off the bone Melbourne might regret paying massive overs for 5 years or more.

“He’s just got some tightness,’’ said Teague. “He had an early one (hamstring injury) before the season and he didn’t train with the squad this week but he still ran at a decent clip, so he wasn’t far off (from playing).
“It’s probably his history, having had an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) operation with the hamstring tendon (being used as part of the surgical procedure) and the fact he’s a very important player for us, someone we value very highly, that we didn’t want to take the risk with him." (Teague, quoted by Andrew Capel in the 'tiser in May 2017)

Yeah, James Frawley's a real spud..

All Australian at 21..
Represented Australia at International Rules
Premiership Hawthorn
187 AFL games.

Undoubtedly his International Rules appearance proves he is not a spud :p

So all the supposed leaks on gov signing on a few weeks back were either wrong or do we think something went pear shaped at the 11th hour ? Not liking the rumours of our club deliberately low balling players that we then expect loyalty from . Treat people like that and you will leave a bad taste in their mouth. Offending a young and proud player is just dumb and unnecessary . Would prefer us to be upfront with our dealings with our players .

Freo or Adelaide?

Surely if you enjoy playing footy you couldn't possibly consider Freo

I couldn't think of anything worse than being an aggressive contested marking forward playing exciting footy for the AFC then going to a Ross Lyon defensive dour ball going forward very slowly snore fest. The contract would want to be huge.

2015 : Clayton Oliver Pick 4, Sam Weideman Pick 9.
2014 : Christian Petracca Pick 2, Angus Brayshaw Pick 3 [Compensation]
2013 : Christian Salem Pick 9
2012 : Jimmy Toumpas Pick 4
Pls. Toumpas is a spud. Salem not much better. Petracca didn't debut till last year. Brayshaw is forever getting knocked out, and has only played 35 games. Oliver is a jet, but still only in his second year of football, and hasn't been playing long enough for any club to have really gone after him. And Weideman has played 10 games. Try again.

No shit Sherlock..

If you had taken the time to see the relevance of the post was the HIGH picks the Dees had had compared to the AFC.

You quoted my original post and your reply simply listed players and their draft pick position. I assumed it was in response to my statement that Melbourne hasn't had any top end talent to lose. Top end draft pick does not equal top end talent. It should, but it doesn't always. Hence my response showing that they haven't had the opportunity to lose that top end talent that they finally have. They haven't been around long enough, played enough games to warrant it, or come out of contract for any club to throw huge dollars at them. Sherlock.

And add Jesse Hogan to that list as well..

Ok, this is third hand info, so make of it what you will. I know someone who's best friend is also good friends with Mitch's girlfriend. Supposedly Mitch and his girlfriend are moving to Melbourne (the city, not the club) next year.

I hope this is false, as it runs counter to what is being reported, but just thought I'd pass on the only bit of info I've come across (and probably ever will!).

That's interesting given there has been one other poster on here suggesting that Gov is headed east.
