Ok, this is third hand info, so make of it what you will. I know someone who's best friend is also good friends with Mitch's girlfriend. Supposedly Mitch and his girlfriend are moving to Melbourne (the city, not the club) next year.

I hope this is false, as it runs counter to what is being reported, but just thought I'd pass on the only bit of info I've come across (and probably ever will!).

Lol.
He has a massive offer from Freo, the club he supported as a kid and the club his dad played for....
Yeah, hes off to Victoria.

I disagree about Lewis. I think the Hawks wanted to keep him, but he spat the dummy when he saw they were moving on Mitchell and heard whispers that he might follow the next year, so took matters into his own hands. The Hawks probably would have made the finals with Lewis in the team (and definitely with both in the team).

Yes, not all of the players I listed are guns, but those clubs are losing both good players and solid best 22 players.

We didn't bring in a replacement for Tippett because we'd already brought in Jenkins just in case that scenario occurred. We didn't bring in a replacement for Davis because we had Talia.

Dangerfield is impossible to replace with just 1 player. We apparently went hard at Luke Parker but failed.

Who did Hawthorn bring in to replace Franklin? No one.

Tippett was brought in as a key forward, not a ruckman. Sydney had to replace Mumford with a D-grade Richmond ruckman. Their other players got replaced with kids. They are just fortunate enough to have access to good academy kids, otherwise they'd be in trouble.

Not sure if serious?

Actually you cannot be serious, that's some hard core Kool Aid guzzling

You just said why don't other clubs lose good players. I gave you several examples of very good teams that lost players.

You can't change the argument now once I've proven that we're not alone.

You haven't proven anything, other than a bad case of confirmation bias.

When you start saying things like Mitchell & Lewis were losses, or a fringe punt on a long shot like JJ meant we planned for Tippett leaving, you've left planet earth

Calling that decisive proof is another level again

Yes, young players get offers, but give me an example of a club that has had 2 third-year players getting offers like that?

Yes, the new CBA means that the dollars are a little higher now, but we're talking about a 3rd year player with 50 games being offered a salary that puts him in the top 30 highest paid players in the competition.

Give me an example of another club that has a 3rd year player get an offer like that? Then combine that with a 30 game player from the same club getting offered a salary that puts him in the top 50 highest paid players in the competition.

What happened to the last young player that got a big offer like that? Tom Boyd left and went to the Bulldogs.

The only other recent example I can think of is Josh Kelly, and he's a 4th year player with 80 games under his belt (as many as Lever and McGovern combined). There's every chance he'll leave as well.

One from a bit further back is Tom Scully. He left too (albeit his offer was under very exceptional circumstances).

Now those players were pick 1, pick 1 and pick 2. We're talking about players that were pick 14 and pick 43 here! Surely that says something about our drafting and development when we can develop 2 players like that.

Glug glug glug kool aid yum

That's utterly ridiculous, and adopting a ludicrously arbitrary line about 2/3rd year players just proves you're to find a way to support the argument you've already decided upon

The problem is that we as supporters are not close enough to really know what is happening.

Would you accept that supercilious reasoning from a government or at a shareholders meeting?

Or would you do what 99% of reasonable people do and look at the basic facts of record?

Why invent a new fictitious standard for a footy club of all things?

It's 5th hand info isn't it?

and actually not correct either

What happened to the Uni course McGovern was supposed to have registered for in Perth?

Will he get his tuition fees back if he moves to Melbourne?
He is studying by correspondence. ;)

So Gov signs for 5 years, Lever goes for top 10 pick and quality youngster, Cameron goes for a top 20 pick, Denzel in and taught to run both ways, Gibbs to come home and mysterious gun mid added to the side.

Tea leaves read.

Good luck teaching a Menzel to run

If I was Justin Reid I would be getting a game tape of today, sitting down with Mitch and telling him a little story how last year Brisbane offered JJ $750k a year to be their number one man. His numbers were good for any forward but today showed when he plays that number 1 forwards role he is no where near that sort of player. JMcgovern and McKenzie tore him a new one contest after contest. Now freo are offering the same deal.... and you are not even our number 2 or 3. Chose wisely or you may cash in this contract but your next one will be much like our good friend K@nt Tippet.

I hope we don't do anything so stupid

No one including Mitch expects him to be a main man KPF, so trying to sell him a shaggy dog story will just make us look daft

The guys pitching money at Lever clearly do think he will be a KPD; Gov isn't like that
