Maybe we want to do a pick swap with a club like Gold Coast first, then do the McGovern deal. Show the supporters we have a golden pick for SA talent, then we can accept a reasonable (but not fantastic) deal for McGovern

Maybe we want to do a pick swap with a club like Gold Coast first, then do the McGovern deal. Show the supporters we have a golden pick for SA talent, then we can accept a reasonable (but not fantastic) deal for McGovern

Or show our supporters we have a very nice pick and then make Carlton trade for a mid 1st round pick that we can also take to the draft - as if we got that pick first we could not firewall it and the club we may be pick dealing with to go high in the draft could ask for that pick as well

The Gibbs trade was done before the Charlie trade.

You are correct. I believe that was deliberate on Crows part as Carlton were going to demand that pick 12 if we done that deal first. I have sneaking suspicion the story of Charles and Pykey playing golf and all agreeing to stay on for the next year was made up so Blues would accept the deal we had before them rather than holding out.

Obviously back half of the draft would feel about right but I'm sure we'll have been scouting him all year and that along with Mattner's intel should allow Hamish and his crew to assess his draft value.
