Is the lack of young talls/KPPs a worry? We could be in serious trouble the next couple of years
It's a tall heavy draft and we're probably gonna end up with a good pick. So if we really need another one (which I don't necessarily think we do), we can get one incredibly easy. Plus who knows might fall out with a club and want a sea change between now and October.

Francis isn’t a KPP. He’s a medium. Bringing Phillips in is exactly what he needed to get the mismatch.

His bench mark should be compete first, 5-7 marks, 2-3 goals or assists combined. He did that last week. We are far too concerned with what he isn’t than what he is.
Yep I think we’re better off with Phillips as a forward rather than Francis. Phillips can take a grab and kick ok even if 1-2 goals which is on par or better than Francis. But the big plus is Wright 100% full forward and the help to Draper.

Match preview is here if anyone would like to listen

Sam McClure literally has zero idea about football. Couldn’t believe that smith was dropped, and think he should play in the midfield when he comes back in 😂
Pretty much sums up the dimwitted moron’s knowledge of football

Francis? Let’s face it folks..he’s useless in every way

Send him back to SA to port or crows

We got bigger fish to fry

1967 - loss loss loss loss loss win
1971 - loss loss draw win
1993 - loss draw loss win
93’ …then Mercuri, Boris , Wanganeen , Joey , Bomber , Harvey , Grenvold, Salmon , G’OD and Denham put the foot down. None of them played less that 20 games for the season

Ricky O 16 games

Fletcher 17

Good times

Best wishes.
My brother is in the Dons coterie.
It's a challenge to play the Dees, it should be stimulating.
I think their five key players to target are Trac, Oliver, Lever, May and Fritsch.
If you can negate those five, hit them hard, then you are in the running.

The last time we were in this position with Melbourne as our Round 3 opponent was 2019. And we won that night.

Granted, they're way better now than they were then. And we're maybe worse than we were then?

But we've done it before. We gave them a real challenge last time we played.

Miracles do happen.

...Maybe.

Who goes out to play the three of them ?
Maybe they want Francis to get a decent run of form in the VFL given he has been almost going to take a mark or almost going to kick a goal.

Jones
Baldwin
Reid
Eyre
Brand
Bryan
Cox

Not one of them in the team isn't deal for us though.

Jones - love him, but injury prone
Baldwin - injury prone/can't get a game (1)
Reid - injury prone (1)
Eyre - can't get a game (0)
Brand - can't get a game (0)
Bryan - can't get a game (1)
Cox - hasn't played as a KPP at all, though hopefully he will

A slight cause for concern imo

Sure its annoying they aren't all playing and dominating.

But we have 7 on the list under 22. Not exactly lacking.

Is Bryan underdone?

Would of looked to him over Phillips. Phillips is handy but we need to get games into Nick.

Young KPP's take time, see how Reid and Cox settle as their bodies mature given it's not uncommon for these ultra-tall guys to have issues early on as their bodies aren't finished growing.

Bryan is very young for a ruckman still, I'd expect him to start to push for a spot by the end of this season though. Draper is also very young for a ruckman.

Baldwin, Eyre and Brand were all late selections so if 1 of them make it we'll be doing well.

Jones the most frustrating at the moment because we can all see his talent, just needs a clear run at it.

Inexperienced, and I think he's not shown a heap as a forward.

Phillips makes sense as a win now inclusion - which is what we should be doing. Pick the best team each week, where players are close, get games in to younger guys for the future.

I don't think Bryan is (yet) ready to push ahead of Phillips. Hopefully by the end of the year he'll be doing so.

Jones and Reid have very typical tall kid injuries that usually resolve when they finish growing.

Baldwin’s only injury since he’s been here is the ACL we recruited him with (his second), and they usually take a year to recover so he’s pretty much on track. It is a more concerning injury but we’ve also seen players have long careers after an ACL with no other issues once surrounding muscles are strengthened to reduce load and increase stability in the knee, so as long as it’s been properly rehabbed it’s not the end of the world.

Soft tissue injuries are the worst sort of injuries because they do tend to recur and the scar tissue builds up, at which point injury prone is a much more serious affliction. But that’s not what we have here (touch wood).
