I thought we should have picked up Jesse Motlop. I guess though Butler hasn't had a real chance at being a proper small forward. He was being played as a forward/mid in the NAB League which I don't believe he is. I hope he starts finding his feet this week for Box Hill.

Butler is a more rounded footballer and was ranked higher than Motlop in most phantom drafts (both official and unofficial) and ultimately was selected higher.

James Sicily spent time working in recruiting during his time off and was a big reason why we went with Butler. He rates him very highly.

He's also a new draftee coming off an interrupted pre-season with 2 hit outs at Box Hill to his name. Dylan Moore went nowhere near the senior side in his first year at the club. Patience will be rewarded with Butler IMO.

Has all the tools. Has speed, footy smarts, goal sense and tackles well. Just needs the proper development which he's likely to receive under Sam Mitchell and the gang.

I cant stand that this behaviour is always excused. His shtick is to try and wind people up, make them annoyed.

I dont respect him. This sort of commentary provides nothing positive and sums up our modern world where being nasty and mean to get a reaction is more important than being right.

Well done for him for admitting he was wrong I guess, he seems to do that far more than any other pundit wish days it all. The only service he provides is satisfaction to chippy supporters who get a kick out of other supporters being pissed off.

I tune out when he bobs up, can't be bothered with it.
I’m actually the opposite. I love the ‘Everyone vs Hawthorn’ mentality and IMO I feel it’s a sign that we’re coming back to reclaim our rightful throne and the media + oppo fans are worried. Everyone expects us to float around the bottom of the ladder for the next 10 years so I say embrace the negativity towards us.

I think you misunderstood me. Im not saying KC has a bone to pick with Hawthorn, Im saying he has a bone to pic with everybody. Thats all he does.

I'd argue that the majority of the media have shifted this year, they seem to heaping praise on the hawks. I dont think there is all that much negativity to 'embrace'.

Just about every expert picked us to finish last and Kornes himself said we have worst list and young talent in the league. I’m pretty sure the Hawthorn bias is still alive and well mate. It’s not free kick Hawthorn levels yet but just wait until we push into contender status again.

Oh and apologies if I misinterpreted your post 🤙🏽

People hate the fact that we come around to contending so quickly.

I don't rate Butler, but I hope he proves me wrong. He hasn't had a fair chance yet at Box Hill as he and Seamus Mitchell have been playing in a forward line consisting of 4 Key Forwards (Kosi, Jeka, Callow, Serong) and medium forward Fergus Greene. Hopefully, this week he starts showing signs of his talent.
I lost you at "I don't rate Butler" then somehow I managed to continue reading.

Motlop was unaffected by covid being form WA while butler has had an interrupted preseason off the back of hardly playing for 2 years. There's a reason some had Butler going in the top 15.

Butler is 100% a forward/mid

Will end up being a mid/forward soon
