If it bleeds....
To beat Melbourne:
- never stand the mark, walk backwards off the mark
- Take the corridor constantly
- Apply immense tackling pressure at all opportunities
- Have your super tall player take many contested marks
- Miss heaps of early shots to send them into a false sense of security, then go gang busters
What we haven’t had against them until now is all three of Daniher, Hipwood and McStay in the team when we have played Melbourne.Having May belt one of his teammates and missing another week wouldn’t hurt our chances either.

Which will force both May and Lever to play accountable footy.
Something we were unable to do during the latter stages of last year.
I thought Hippy had done his ACL by then but you might be right. We had all of them in the home and away game last year - started very strongly but fell off in the second half.
That game was at Sydney Showgrounds so it doesn’t count eitherI thought Hippy had done his ACL by then but you might be right.

Sounds like we need a forward to play a sacrificial game on him.be interesting Demons looked cooked since May gone..
If he plays and they have a rest.. Wonder which team comes out
I really think seeing Hippy still underdone he can run Lever or May around away from our patterns.Sounds like we need a forward to play a sacrificial game on him.
Joe can kick it from 65-70 so he can lead as faraway as he likesI really think seeing Hippy still underdone he can run Lever or May around away from our patterns.
Although then you think he really needs to find his mojo as well.
So do we go Decoy-Joe for a week.
Hippy absolutely killed May in the first half before the wheels fell off.I thought Hippy had done his ACL by then but you might be right.
Agree...and the wheels fell off in the 2nd half because we couldn't get the ball into our forward 50, not because our forwards dropped off. Melbourne's midfield smashed us.....Gawn was unstoppable.Hippy absolutely killed May in the first half before the wheels fell off.
Hipwood dominated May in the first half on this game, had he have kicked straight ( 2 maybe 3 points from set shots in first half from memory ) would have been greater than the 20odd point margin at half time.I thought Hippy had done his ACL by then but you might be right.
What would be your take on stopping the midfeld? I feel that Petracca is down on last year and is probably playing through an injury but Oliver is still racking them up. Do we send Berry to him or feel that the team defense will be able to cover. Personally I feel we shut him down and send Berry to him.Agree...and the wheels fell off in the 2nd half because we couldn't get the ball into our forward 50, not because our forwards dropped off. Just as much as our Jewel in The Crown is our potent forward line, Melbourne's Jewel In The Crown is their midfield. We cant let Gawn, Petracca, Oliver or Langdon dominate or the game will be their's easily.
Sounds like we need to send May a case of XXXX in the lead in to finals.
Time to demolish the MCG hoodoo!
If it bleeds....
Killing the MCG might be a bit of an ask ... especially with the many thousands of supporters in the way for collateral damage...Nuney, a stadium cannot bleed you beautiful SOB.

I mean it can:Nuney, a stadium cannot bleed you beautiful SOB.
I mean it can:
"BLEEDING in concrete is a phenomenon in which free water in the mix rises up to the surface and forms a paste of cement on the surface known as “laitance” . Bleeding occurs in concrete when course aggregates tends to settle down and free water rises up to the surface"
