Can somebody please tell me why we overlooked D'Ambrosio, in the MSD?
Not only is our ball use pathetic, out of the backline. It's a shambles, across the field. He is composed, ready to go, skilful, tough and reads the play, extremely well.
He would've been a perfect addition, especially when it comes to kick outs, long term.
I would assume as a key back was a greater list need.

because we're incompetent and the reasoning we've displayed is the same that's led us to the position the clubs in now.

We should have picked a key back in last years draft

Would have meant we could just go best available in the MSD

Yeah, but they didn’t and still needed to fill the need.

From memory there was talk of Bazzo but we went before our pick where we got Bergman and then we needed the last pick for Archer.

Dean still available in rookie draft but couldn’t take him as we needed to redraft Polec.

Bazzo was available at the curtis pick

But there was the go home factor talk especially with his father passing away that year. I would have still taken him

Personally I thought this go home factor because of his father passing away had the whiff of West Coast shenanigans about it. His father passed away in 2015 when Bazzo was 11 - it wasn’t recently - so I find it a bit hard to believe that it was still a go home factor.

I agree that Curtis most likely still would’ve been there at the Bergman pick. Nothing against Bergman, but if our 2021 draft got us JHF, Goater, Bazzo, Curtis and Archer it would’ve been perfect IMO.

Interesting question and I’m astonished no-one has asked it before.

Oh wait. The entire MSD thread. And half of Kallan’s player thread. The main conclusions so far:

A) North is the bottom club with more than one list hole, and went KPD instead.
B) D’Ambrosio is a twig and if we wanted that player in the seniors we already have Bergman (if uninjured) or Goater, who have shown better skills (hence both valued at the ND).
C) Judging the value of players after a handful of games is a fool’s game (see Lewis Taylor v Bontempelli).

I've never seen Bergman or Goater kick a footy like Mass does.

If it was Curtis and Dawson vs Bazzo and D’Ambrosio as the option looking back I'd go with Curtis and Dawson.

We have options for that half back role (ie. TT as someone needs to drop out of the centre square when all mids are available).

Yep agreed was fishy and that would have been the better haul

he's bigger than you think. View attachment 1441011
Like 99.98% of posters here I have never seen any of them play live and only seen limited highlights - I was just summarising the very very very extensive discussion that has already gone on and really didn’t want to help start up again.

I know one of Rhett Bazzo's teachers from last year. The kid had been 100% focused on getting drafted from about year ten onwards and wasn't fussed where he went.

And yeah, as someone else has said, his dad died in 2015.

I reckon I’d make a few quid having the psychic ability to know a draft order in advance.
Pretty obvious that bazzo was going to be taken the pick before Bergman as a local. They went all wa boys after their first pick

Had we taken bazzo at the Curtis pick Curtis only had to get through crows and eagles for us to take him at Bergman pick

Much higher odds of getting both bazzo and Curtis had we taken bazzo first

You don’t know Curtis would have go through.

On what we’ve seen of Curtis so far, I’m glad it’s a risk we didn’t take.
