treloar shiel greene adams cerra along with some lesser players like narkle and tyson were all 'locked in done deal' at some point. pretty sure we were also certain to get dunkley at one point. and i know im missing a few, but cant think of them off the top of my head. the only 2 big recruits we've got done (prestia and lynch) have been pretty public knowledge a year out.

i dont with T71 any ill, but i dont get why they can get on here and complain about criticism on where given the track record of trade 'locks' on here and the absolute meme that the doozy has become.
would love to see where these guys were considered a lock apart from Treloar, and as he know the club was told it was done only for the pies to up their offer at the last minute. Just because a name gets mentioned doesn't mean they are a lock.

Yeah the only ones I distinctly remember missing out on and being very close to done deals are Treloar and someone from Port I can’t remember who it was off the top of my head but I remember they had completed a medical and everything

Not 100% sure, but think it may have been Hamish Hartlett.
If so bullet dodged I say.

How many targets have we legitimately chaced since Lynch
A bunch of mids mainly. Off the top of my head I can think of Zak Jones, Cerra, Hopper, Tom Green, Perryman. Missed on all because they either stayed with their club or we got outbid because we've had a very tight cap.

zak jones, brad crouch were the two main ones we were after, we were only offering mid-range salary so were outbid early. definitely for the best i reckon.

don't think anything concrete (media etc.) has been said that we were actively after tom green. seems to all be romance on here with him.

Exactly. Apart from Trelol who did us dirty, he never said they were locks to my recollection. At best they were 50/50 or highly likely at the time it's reported.. Things also change in between weekly updates dramatically.

People just assume players are locks which is entirely different to 50/50 or probables. And that's a failure on them to grasp a basic understanding of language.

They weren't 'locks' They were possibles or probables at that time of being reported. Big difference.

Things also change very rapidly in that space with counter offers priority changes and the like.

Crows sniffing around Sam Weideman, which could possibly suggest Fogarty is out the door?
Where is this being reported? Haven't seen anything myself.

EDIT: Found it

"Another name to watch is Demons swingman Sam Weideman, he's been in and out of Melbourne's team all season," Doropoulos added.

"He's contracted until the end of next year, then he will become a restricted free agent.

"The Crows have the capacity to use the versatile 25-year-old at either end of the ground. But he is lower on the list of priorities at this stage."

I know for a fact Riewoldt and Cotchin renegotiated their contracts and took under's to keep the team together.
thats public knowledge. but collingwood were handing out big contracts left right and centre, and offered grundy the 1 million. its not greedy for him to accept that. its just collingwoods bad financial management.

It's been widely reported that we've been constantly trying to get Tom Green. The only one that wasn't reported in the media was Perryman.

I forgot Crouch also.

west coke board think they are getting pick 19 off us for willie rioli 😂😂😂😂

I think some need to digest this list situation.

Baker 24

Balta 22

Banks 19

Bauer 20

Bolton 23

Brown 19

Clarke 18

Cumberland 21

Dow 20

Gibcus 19

Graham 24

Miller 21

MRJ 19

Nyuon 21

Ralphsmith 20

RCD 21

Ross 21

Ryan 21

Stack 22

That is 19 guys that have shown something at different times age 24 and under.

The future and long term is looking very bright I think, and I see a pretty wide window ahead

If we are winning premierships now and the short term that is just a bonus

lol, im not going to go back through 5-10 years of threads, but all of those players were frequently touted as being lock and already signed on to come to the club by people on this forum. dont rw-write history just to make this board look less pathetically unreliable than it is.

funnily enough, you want to know who has been correct with all the 'inside mail' about players coming to and leaving the club? the media. im not going to believe taranto is coming to the club until the media reports it as a certainty.

Haha, classic media-ese for "I'm taking a wild guess here based on what I've scrolled through in the comments section on Facebook".

Right up there with:
"It is my understanding that ..."
"I'm led to believe that ..."
"My sources tell me that ...."
"Speculation surrounds ..."
etc.

So Willie Rioli is out of contract? So what happens there? Forcing us to trade by matching our offer if we even make one?

3rd round pick it is.
