It was the biggest cr**fest on TV. Montagna still sulking from 2010

What did he say?

“It was almost the best game of the year” or something similar.

The almost you would ordinarily think would be due to other competing fantastic games, but no if you listen to how he delivered it it was “almost” because the team he desperately wanted to win didn’t.

Hilarious

Won’t lie…..I was not a happy camper watching. What I saw was pies dominant in first quarter - wasted (as usual) opportunities. Then got eaten alive by Carlton rest of the game.

Yet - somehow pulled it back through……I don’t even know. Whilst it’s great to see and shows grit etc. gotta admit I’m tired of seeing us win this way.

We do pathetic and show many flaws then somehow decide to “grit it” back in for a win? Love we bear Carlton by 1 point but tbf they clearly deserved the win and I’ve no idea how they managed to drop that

Such a brilliant win, but we get done by 50 in contested ball against the cats and it's gonna be 2020 SF v Cats at the Gabba bad.

Need Adams back so badly for his competitiveness and reasonably clean hands. We were so fumbly this week and last.

The whole of the defence played pretty well, but special mention to Darcy Moore who I thought was BOG. I know he gets goals kicked on him, but he saves so many more. Should be in the AA squad with Maynard.

Yeah, no team loves to run up the score more than Geelong. Play like the third quarter against them and they'll be up by 12 goals at 3 quarter time. Must be better at the contest.

How do we keep doing this but to do it to Carlton in those circumstances is absolutely unreal. You look at stats over the 6 weeks or so and we should be getting annihilated but somehow we keep winning these games.
-Maynard and Moore were huge today best 2 by absolute far.
  • Howe I dont know what has happened to him the last 3 weeks but he just keeps making stupid errors
  • Quaynor huge in the last he was getting towelled up in the first 3 quarters and has been off ever since he got back after covid but hopefully cna build off that last quarter
  • midfield got smashed again hopefully with Adams back in that gap will be bridged soon with him and De Goey both in there.
  • Cox huge in the last but him and Cameron were both poor for the 1st 3 quarters. Cameron did look injured though. Cox so often just doesn't get to contests when we are kicking it to him. He reads the opponents kicks well but when we have it in our hands he is always 90 metres away when they player can only kick 60.
  • Ginnivan is just class
Cameron is not taking the strong pack and intercept marks that were so impressive earlier in the year.
Agreed on Howe who also hasn't taken any recent trademark hangers that I can recall.
I have to confess to not noticing the contribution from Cox. The last quarter was a blur. If I could bring myself to watch a replay, I would take particular note of his game. But watching that game once was enough.

I wouldn’t tune into first crack on Fox either- it’s all about Blues how powerful they’ll be off the 8 goal qtr in 2023, no mention of Pies 9 goal Qtr against the handbags earlier this year? The filth lost the last 4 games of the season - that’s crap!

It’s all about the Blues. Yeah stats went their way but didn’t we outplay them other than the 3rd Qtr?

Forgetting the fact you called the boys pathetic in the Game Day thread and said you we’re leaving until next week, again exposing your fickleness.

I need to correct the above - First Crack forensically dissected how inept the Carlton defence was in allowing Elliot to get free and kick the winning goal.
Fingering Weitering specifically.

And how they failed abysmally to kill the game, including Curnows kick to Howe.
It was a very balanced analysis.

Scary to know that we've lost to 6 of the teams that have made finals with us this year...we've only beaten Melbourne twice and freo so this is going to pan out to be an interesting time.

I'm hoping we've learnt our lessons from those loses to them and are motivated to turn those games into wins this time around.

Whatever the case, I am super proud of them and how far they've come this year. They're such a special group and they all look so happy and have great connections with each other when playing. They continue to prove me wrong everytime I doubt them and get frustrated with them LOL. They do my head in at times with some of the things they do.

Anyway today's victory was f* mint and I'm pumped for the finals! I dare to dream with this lot well done boys !!!

I still can’t understand how we can lose just about every stat badly, inside 50’s,clearances,contested ball, and still find a way to win. It’s mind boggling.I don’t know how this side keeps doing it,

Those stats don’t matter the way our game plan is.

If the Filth didn’t get those garbage frees in the 3rd that switched the momentum in their favor they go down by with goals.

There's no way Cripps is BOG in this game for mine. You're players need to stand up in the last 10 minutes and he wasn't one of them. Caught holding the ball. And if you watch the very last moment, the balls there to be taken he just taps it back to his masters. And it's another Collingwood win.
He was huge -25 contested possessions.
Credit where credit is due.

He can pull on a Coll jumper any day.
