I’ve been a Lyons fan but he’s cooked. It’s not just his speed but he’s not getting the touches like he once was either. The energy and pace of Wilmot and the bustling ball hungry Robertson have to get picked.

Off season surgery early, full off session and he could be back in form.

Everyone acknowledging the poor disposal, and I’ll point out the lack of disposal. So what’s the selling point? He’s big and young? Pretty low bar
He can run, is an unselfish player and is quite often one of the first guys pushing back to the last line of defence, he’s tough and not afraid of contact. Probably the worst game I’ve seen him play last night so I’ll back him in to rebound after that, also he wasn’t that bad in the second half. Swapping him with JL is just asking to get outran all game. Only way JL should come back into the side is for Matho and I wouldn’t even be doing that.

Went to Prestia and then when he went off moved to ??? (can't remember, craft beer has too high ABV these days). Whoever he moved on to went to the half-back flank, so it was tough for him to get involved but his forward work was impressive enough to STFU those whinging about his time in the reserves.
Fagan in his pressor said he went to Cotchin

If it is to be believed that Lyons is suffering OP, it really could be the beginning of the end for him. At his age with that type of injury, coming back will be mightily difficult. Think we’ll give him next year to see if he can get himself right but if still no good this time next year, a difficult conversation might need to be had.

Happy to trade him for Dunkley.

This point needs to be reiterates on Prior, he's talked highly because he adds a lot of defensive run and plays that far side wing role really well. Basically he's filled the void that Mitch Robbo left.

Last night though, he fumbled, split marks and was generally deer in the headlights kind of game. Feel like it might have been his first final and alot of the boys were similar (re Gardiners turnover, Danniher calling for the ball off Wilmot then getting smothered for a goal) and more senior then him. This is why I would be willing to give him a pass and see if he bounces back as he's been solid all year.

Fish made a good point in the Roar Deal though that Answerth was pushed up to the wing early in the season when Zorko was across half back. I could see Prior being dropped for him if that were the case, I'm not sure I want to see that, I'm not sure Answerth is really an upgrade, feels a bit like a change for change sake?

I could see Answerth for Prior (taking his wing role), Rayner for Robinson (with Bailey moving to a wing role) to get those boys back in. No offense meant to Lyons, but I just don't see a place for him in the team right now when he can't contribute around those clearance. Hopefully they let Dev Robbo have a bit more of an off the leash night, because Neale surely can't get 15 clearances every game for the rest of the season...unless.... can he?

In: Fort, Rayner
Out: Oscar, Robinson

Would like to keep it simple. Equally I think Dev and Wilmot are absolutely worth keeping in. If we want Lyons in, it has to be for Matho. Answerth is a tricky one as the one I'd personally drop is Rich but that isn't happening. May go Answerth for Wilmot.

Is that you Fages? Yes he never tinkers with a winning side, especially with a few future best 22 kids. The only other change I can see is Ah Chee coming in from the sub roll and someone else going to that roll. Fagan knows from experience that finals exposure is what forges premiership players and teams.

Agreed and those would probably be my 3 changes as well

Maybe 17 to break the record ;)
I think Dimma sent a few players to Neale but with not much effect.
Neale was just in the zone and it was not going to be his fault if we got beaten
I think he dragged a lot of Lions players along with him to increase their output
No doubt Neale will get a harder type tag next game.
Neale previously has struggled with a hard tag even from relatively unknown players
However it's finals time and no saving yourself for the rest of the season
I am hoping for Neale to do a Petracca of 2021 and be a standout next week also

After mulling it over all day I now think the changes will be >

Ins- Darcy Fort, Cam Rayner, Noah Answerth.

Outs- Oscar McInerney, Mitch Robinson, Jaxon Prior.

Sub, one of- Jaxon Prior, Callum Ah Chee, Mitch Robinson.

Although I have a sneaking suspicion Fages may want to keep Mitch Robbo in the side, particularly if it's against the Demons.

I think those should be the changes, we don’t lose much running capacity from our team last night with those ins. I am worried about Lyons coming in for anyone other than Matho which would take away from our best play this season, taking the game on and running both ways in transition.

He brings a ferocity that still lifts the team. I'll be shocked if he is dropped.

Lyons having OP puts things into perspective a bit - previously he was ultra consistent and suddenly drop off in form this year - doesn't make sense for just a natural drop off in form given that he seems ultra professional in all other aspects

It's a bit sad that he must have kept playing with it for so long - as it hasn't done himself or the team any favours - him because he would have been playing hampered and potentially worsening the injury/delaying recovery and the team because we've been affected by his limited output and he has kept a spot that could have been used to get games into Dev.

Hopefully he has the chance to properly recover from the injury / seek treatment (unsure what the treatment is but these days it's not common)

Groin injuries can take a ridiculously long time to get over. Anything from a week or two to a year or so and the entire time it can be touch and go. He could've felt fine to play just about every week but then the niggle just comes up during the high intensity moments of AFL. He could have an absolute blinder in the VFL and I still don't think they should pick him simply due to the risk. Been an incredible inside-mid, could still be really good next year, might just need an off-season/pre-season to come good.

Prior worked himself into the game which shows he has got what it takes. Stays in for mine. I'd bring in Fort for O but give Mcstay Gardiner's spot. Get creative with rucks and try to get mcstay im scoring chains from hb and rayner from further up the ground. Mcstay can run around with ben brown too. Robbo make way for Rayner. Ah chee or Answerth sub
