I don't want Answerth during this finals series if Wilmot is fit and available. Wilmot brings dash and appears to be more adventurous rebounding from backline. Answerth is a different version of Gardiner, he won't solve our problems against the top teams.
We've often said, having watched Darcy in person at the reserves and even more so last night (some players look more impressive at senior level than reserves (Jaxon is one of thiose) that he has 'it' - Im a footy nuffy so cant quite describe it - instinctual, classy, I dont know - but he just looks an eite level footy player.

In: Fort, Rayner
Out: Oscar, Robinson

Would like to keep it simple. Equally I think Dev and Wilmot are absolutely worth keeping in. If we want Lyons in, it has to be for Matho. Answerth is a tricky one as the one I'd personally drop is Rich but that isn't happening. May go Answerth for Wilmot.

Rich was far more a positive than a negative last night. Way preferable to Answerth being in.

I'd probably go with

Fort for Oscar (forced)

Answerth for Wilmot (moved to sub) - go for the safe option, Sydney not that quick forward and smaller ground

Rayner for Robinson - push Bailey further up the ground (third wing rotation), also had Matho and Clug spending a lot of time forward so they'd get less time

Lyons for Matho - assuming the 'rest' helps freshen Lyons and get him to at least his early season form he offers more than Matho

Prior lucky- any of Ah Chee, Prior or Robbo could play that wing role. Definitely a weakness for us.

What did it say?
He’s playing ressies tomorrow. Apparently has been dealing with OP for the last couple of months. But yeah given he’s playing ressies tomorrow it’s a safe bet to say he was dropped for last night.

He’d wanna have a blinder tomorrow to get back in then you’d think and even so that could only possibly be for Matho you’d assume.

Went to Prestia and then when he went off moved to ??? (can't remember, craft beer has too high ABV these days). Whoever he moved on to went to the half-back flank, so it was tough for him to get involved but his forward work was impressive enough to STFU those whinging about his time in the reserves.
My rule for game day: if it's over eight, it's a bit too high mate.

No way matho is dropped.

Fort isn't playing tomorrow cause he is playing next week, as per Fagan's comments last night's presser. Keeping him in cotton wool - not risking injury.

Lyons playing tomorrow means he isn't coming back in.

What’s up with people saying prior should keep his spot? There’s a squeeze coming and I can’t recall seeing anything at all to justify being a lock in the side.

  • Fort for O is easy
  • Rayner for Robbo likewise
  • Happy for Wilmot to hold over Answerth. No big drama either way but the unlucky one should get the sun vest

I’d want Lyons in for Prior too, and I’d love to see literally anyone come in for Gardiner. Ideal situation honestly would be McStay back and then try the two forward lineup. Obviously not gonna get that experimental at this stage though

Lyons and Prior play completely different roles in the team. There is zero chances you replace one with the other without making some major other changes

Yeah we’ll be the Friday you’d assume. Given our opponent plays tonight too. Also allows Dogs a bit more time to get back from Perth etc if required. Congrats too mate.
Its been confirmed that the Melbourne / Sydney vs Brisbane game IS next Friday night.

The other Semi Final Coll / Cats v Frem / Dogs is next Saturday night.

Agree, Prior out and Lyons onto the wing.

Nice of them to give us an extra days rest against a team that finished higher than us on the ladder ... :)

Just watched the last quarter again , I think Prior stays in, despite some poor disposals early in the game.

Fort in and McStay plays time on the ball as the old style ruckrover.
Prior's got a bit of spunk about him to - not bad giving it to opposition players, even did so to Dusty and sticking up for Gardiner when he was flattened against the Saints. I just think Prior is another of those boys that you keep persisting with - a lot to work with, although I acknowledge a couple of errant kicks.

Hard to get a read on this. Fagan seemed very happy with Dev and Wilmot. Equally talking as if Lyons would come back in. Which seems odd - surely if he is playing ressies at midday Saturday it was a soft drop?

So from that I am reading

LIKELY CHANGES

Fort for Oscar
Rayner for Robinson
Ah Chee for Prior

I don't know who else you could really take out for Answerth?

POSSIBLE FAGAN MOVE BUT PLEASE DON'T CHRIS

Fort for Oscar
Lyons for Dev
Answerth for Wilmot

I just don't see how this could be justified but this would be Fagan saying this is my best 22 i don't care what happened last week

CHANGES IF I WERE COACH

Fort for Oscar - liked us going a bit shorter but we need a ruck, and which tall are you dropping?
Ah Chee for Prior - love Prior but too many errors, he is my SUB
Rayner for Robinson - just looked out on his feet. Another good sub option
Lester for Gardiner - I have gone into bat for Darcy before but he looks way down on confidence.

Easy to get carried away on stats. Dev just made us look so much more balanced in the midfield. Mathieson looked like he did enough to me but i could change my mind on replay
