I'm referring to the coaching selection panel. Mahoney and Dorothy Hisgrove
I wouldn’t expect either of those to be beholden to the aura of James Hird, one is a career administrator from another club and the other was a Collingwood member 2 years ago.

If they somehow came out with James Hird I’d question whether they got paid off or if the board overruled the decision of the committee.

Agreed but if that panel came to that decision you couldn't pin it on the club being stupid.

So Essendon would be stupid if the process that's made up of 2 Essendon (out of 6) people came to the conclusion that he was the best candidate?
'Process' was clearly in quotes.

The only way Hird is hired over other more credentialled candidates is if the 'process' we are running is a sham to hire whoever we want.

We have form, Danny Frawley resigned from the panel involved in hiring Worsfold cause he could see it was a fake process and we clearly just wanted the one guy.

Given the clubs obvious insight into the saga it would be interesting to know how they will view Hirds leadership credentials. Despite what many think on here he may actually be seen in a very favourable light by the club in this regard.

Having been a past employee this knowledge would carry a lot of weight in their decision either way (as it should). After all, if the club views Hird as being scapegoated and considers him to have conducted himself very well under huge pressure - why shouldn't this count in his favour?

Whatever happens it would be interesting to know how they view his coaching history. They can't discount it as they will need to factor in all the applicants history if the process is a fair one.

Listening to the 'Howie Games' pod cast and Hird has that aura that all the good coaches have. Im probably in the camp of him not being able to coach at senior level again but gee whiz him as a development coach would be bloody brilliant.

If Cameron was short odds for the job, the talent pool of coaches is very thin. We need to cash in the war bonds and make Scott an offer he can’t refuse.
