So, do you think the board took his opinion about Truck into serious consideration?

If Zach, or any other player for that matter, came out and said that about any other potential coach, would we accept it and choose another candidate?

This is seriously the tail wagging the dog that shouldn't happen at any club. Let the process play out and then different factions of the supporter group can rage all they want.

True but I'd give some weight to a player we've earmarked as a captain, had the first 3 years of his career f'd by said coaching prospect and the next 3 by trying to move on after the mess that was left

Good to see you have Tapping amongst the coaching structure. If they are interviewing Soloman, Lade, etc we should be interviewing Tapping. Take a look at his CV, has covered all areas you need to be a senior coach. His low profile wouldn't endear him to the rank and file bomber supporter base. Amazing tenure at the Lions and was part of the journey from 17 - 21. Proven development record at Collingwood and coached his own teams successfully. Prior to his AFL journey coached Sandy Dragons 09-11 including 2011 premiership. Just need to look under carpet, it's right there. Terrific football person, humble man.

I was kind of leaning to Hird just because it would be funny, and that's about as high as we can aim at the moment, a good laugh. But really, what a complete, dog shit, dumpster fire of a club, do they just not get that you can't run on fueling the train by shoveling member berries into the furance and clutching onto pearls of a past long gone? I don't think a potential leader should be airing this in public, whoever he is bagging. These things will come back and bite you and he should be better than that.

I think there are a different set of circumstances in this situation. How many other coaches have been at the helm during a doping scandal and been rehired by the same club 7 years later? Not to mention Merrett did play under Hird so would have some insight you’d imagine.
