Montgomery was the only half decent name in the panel, so of course it makes sense that current day Port Adelaide got rid of him. Probably wasn't as much of a yes man behind the scenes as he is in public.

Also, no succession plan equals no 2023 membership. Thanks for the $600, Port.

Well my excitement about Josh Carr returning was quickly diminished by the Monty news.

Those WA clubs are really salty aren’t they. First West Coast now Freo announcing Josh’s replacement with out so much as a thanks is very average. Maybe it’s not a coincidence half their list is leaving.
Really?
From the exact same press conference and on the story.

“We also wish Josh all the best as he returns to Adelaide.
“With his wife Karolina’s family based in South Australia, we fully understand and support the decision they have made as a family.
“Josh has been a great servant for the Club both as a player and coach and the impact he has had on our midfield group in particular will be felt for years to come.”

We did exactly the same thing with Montgomery.

We will have turned over all the assistants and the playing group 3 times and yet still, here we are with the 1 bloke at the top of it all who takes no blame. It is a pretty impressive tale of survival.

Touch dramatic. Personally, the thought of Koch grandstanding over a succession plan, as he potentially weds us to the next Ben Rutten, is nauseating
