Well dont think that's right, Gallagher joined August 2018 as list manger and i believe Trout left at end of 2018. Hill joined Saints end of 2019 for the 2020 season, the 2 people that were in charge of getting Hill were Gallagher & Leathlean
No doubt Lethers and Gags are responsible for recruiting Hill.
However, it's Ratts that is responsible for using him as a defender and perhaps giving him an easy ride. This seems to be the crux of the issues that are dogging him. And supposedly he wants to leave for reasons of either dissatisfaction, disenchantment or fractious relationships with teammates. Or, maybe it's just his thing to move around. We don't know what the truth of the matter really is.
Whatever the problem is with Hill's current situation, l really can't see how Gags or Lethers are culpable for it going sour.

The difficulties of his contract are another matter though. The club paid too much in salary and trade cost and the market price to move him on is reflective of how off kilter his contract is.
So who's to blame? Is it the dickheads who paid too much for the Ferrari or the dickhead who then ran it in to the ground?
From my side l tend to blame Ratts more than anyone. Though l also think Hill has been bad news since day 1 and it may be best to part with him for that reason.
It would not be progressive to allow the situation to perpetuate and if so then you take what you can get and move on.

Punitive measures are not how things like this are handled and lMHO both Gags and Lethers seem to have done enough right that this doesn't rate too badly.
I don't think Hill will be leaving now so let's just hope the review and a new footy boss can straighten things up. If we want to focus on accountability you could well fire half the club.

The players they have had they should of won more than 1 in ten years , but is this the last roll of the dice for most of these Cats players - Selwood , Smith , Dangerfield , Hawkins , Bilcavs , Stanley , Toohey , Stewart are all in there 30s or more so they will need at least 8 very good players to the ones they will lose in the coming years.
Even Cameron is around 30yrs old.

We’ve been saying that for the last 3-4 years.

They keep contending though. Brilliantly coached and managed.

But their salary cap must be bursting.

If they threw the kitchen sink at Hill without having the coach aware and on board, then they should both be fired.
I doubt that its the case.

If the review finds half the club needs firing to make us better and more successful then thats what should be done.

Maybe clark is gone
I thought he would stay

But whispers about seems to be he wants to hang with a surfing buddy
Must love surfing to go to norf or just sees it as a job

Plenty of players see it that way and have other loves outside of a job
But a future second???
Gee
Id take the first pick of this years second round i guess

Just get it over with
I would be asking the question on Francis Horne, still yet to sign an extension on his contract and use Hill, Hunter as leverage to get that trade done.

Of course
I'm predicting a legal stalemate at the end of the inquiry with the AFL forced to make changes at club level to ensure better treatment of indigenous players going forward.
Of course it will be a stalemate. How can you prove the allegations are legitimate? It’s a classic “he said she said” scenario.

IMO this will be a media 💩 storm, the fall out will be what will settle down the masses.
Likely the sacking of people involved.

It seemed a bit like trying to put a round peg in a square hole re Hill .
Rattans game plan built purely on contested ball , then you get a player in on the highest coin who is prob the most uncontested player in the Afl.
Then when it wasn’t working Ratten tells the beaten up players publicly to give hill the ball more .
It’s been said before on here that he’s the cream in a premiership side . Prob not where we were . So who’s fault is it that it’s hasn’t worked Ratten or the recruiting team or hills or the rest of the team - who knows .
But is it ever gonna work when 1 player in the side is allowed to avoid contact and the rest aren’t allowed to take a backwards step ?

They also have heaps of guys who've played together for years. That has to help.
We've turned over most of the list in the past three years.
We really need a majority core. You will always turn over players to improve the list.

I know that everyone’s going to be hung up on wanting pick 7 to take on Bowes salary but let’s be honest I think they’re dangling that in the hope they could also get something decent in return .. obviously not the equivalent but soften the blow

They’ve got 3 second rounders …I wonder if we could have a crack at snagging 2 of them with long going the other way and we keep our second rounder that way …

Brisbane will be an interesting watch with 15 I doubt they want to keep that so having 3 second rounders could give us some room to do something with them for 15…
Bris #15 will be used for Dunkley

On the salary cap part, I’m not convinced they’d be right at the limit. Probably not a lot of room left. I read that Hawkins isn’t on much. I’d be surprised if Selwood is on a lot these days. Big money players are Cameron and Dangerfield, probably Stewart too, but guys like Stengle, Rohan, Bews, Myers, Henry, Tuohy, Stanley, SDK, O’Connor wouldn’t be on heaps I wouldn’t have thought.

I think a lot of those players are happy to take less than the market could offer because of the lifestyle. It’s undoubtedly a real thing and a competitive advantage for that club.

Have heard about a player from another team getting villied and threaten by his own teams fans after missing goals in a final last year.
He is a first nations player and has mentioned how low he felt when his skin colour and heritage was attacked.
It needs to stop!
Yep there’s sledging your own team’s players which I don’t agree with but it happens. But it genuinely feels so much worse when the dickheads resort to racial slurs and attacks. Like that’s all they see you for in the end, not even a “bad player” but a minority.

As Geelong swept all before them and didn't lose after R9, I decided to go back and watch that game.
Co incidently it was against the Saints.

Anybody who states we have no gameplan needs to go back and watch that game.

After a see sawing 1st half, it seemed the Cats were getting on top, they played very similar to most games I saw them in this year, using their mid pressure to rush forward entry kicks and have Tom Stewart clean up.
First good move was to nullify Stewart by playing Sharman on him. The easy outs from defence to a free HBF'er were stifled and we got stoppages and repeat entries.

In the third they got 22 points ahead mainly by drawing our half forwards down the ground so when we won the ball we had nobody to kick to especially on the skinny side.
This is where our mids and half backs got to work, instead of kicking to a congested skinny side players like Gres would wait until a mid or Hill would work to the centre of ground, Seb or Hill would then hit the fat side getting the ball from inside to outside on a number of occasions very quickly and getting us within range
Once we got on a roll, Rohan was winning the centre contests mainly to Seb and Crouch who would set up forward inside 50's. The 6 6 6 rule was exploited and our midfield with Seb and Zac Jones giving us run and carry. The half forwards could play higher and we got repeat entries and goals.
Using the gameplan effectively we scored 6 goals in 14 minutes. Geelong have a fantastic gameplan and work ethic however if you can get the switch inside then outside quickly, they don't have the legs.
4th quarter very different, Geelong got within 3 points and the quarter became an arm wrestle, Paddy was the difference, Geelong concentrated on Max and Paddy as the second tall sealed the game.

It showed when we played with pressure, confidence and flair ( both Jones and Gres were excellent) we can match and outplay the best.
When we lose confidence, get hesitant and make mistakes we go into our shell. We made lots of mistakes v Geelong but they tidied up and went again. This is the difference between pre and post bye. Losing players with flair like Gres, and Jones who lost all form really hampered our run.
However after watching R9 where we matched and beat the best team of the year, I refuse to believe we have no gameplan.
We do have some sort of a game plan but it seems that we don’t trust ourselves with it, particularly after the bye, and revert to a more predictable game plan of short kicks or long down the line.

1.3 million for next 2 years

I wonder if there is a possibility that we just agree to pick up say half of the value of his contract for pick 7 and allow Bowes to go to another club who picks up the other half. It would be like taking the money Hannebery freed up and exchanging for pick 7.

In retrospect we would have gotten Sydney’s first rounder for taking Hanners on under this new trade setup.

John Doe from Twitter mentions Bowes intentions to go to Geelong.

The great thing about post granny week is our drams for the trade, draft and next season are yet to be smashed!

My latest fantasy football is:

Hill and Clark for Horne Francis
Bowed and pick 7 for Long.

Or
Hill for NM future rnd2pick
Bytes and Clark for Essendon fr pick and
Bowes and 7 for long.

So out long hill clark and bytel and
we take to the draft 4, 7 and 9 along with Bowes or

It if Horne Francis, pick 7 and 9 along with Bowes.

If it if three picks we take Cadman Mackenzie and Humphrey

Who needs JDG?
