We've told him to explore his options. I think he needed a nudge.
Interesting that Dow is “exploring his options”, some posters were steadfast in the belief he was perfectly happy and going nowhere.
It was a vehement belief & those opposing it were labeled pretty much clueless- crickets from them atm 😂

He's probably been asked to explore his options....

The kid is happy in his environment, too happy. Has been advised by many to explore his options. To modify a phrase we became familiar with “he is uncomfortable being uncomfortable”. Says a bit. He is being pushed. The posters were correct, not clueless.

I said those who were saying he will look else where, were labeled clueless- not the other way around.
Fact - he is exploring options
Fiction- “we are pushing him to do so” & “he’s decided too of his own accord”.
We don’t know who instigated it either way, but it’s not a surprise.

obviously marginalized, we all know, new coach comes in, he will have his preferred players to integrate his game plan.
Vossy has been professional and given every player time to demonstrate their value to the team. End 2022/23 will be to clear the dead wood.
Paddy needs to be revitalized, a fresh start, new approach, perhaps a little more sensitivity , may well make all the difference to his stagnate , AFL career.
I wish all the very best and hope we get a mid to late 2nd rounder return, it would be a great outcome for both parties.

Tarryn Thomas torn, may ask for a trade..

No ******* way. Imagine it was Walsh our number one pick. That is way unders. 8 and 10 to 15 next year.
No club could afford Walsh really. Even 12 months after he was drafted he was worth two top 10 picks with one of them being top 3.

RE: Horne-Francis, if I were north I'd be asking Port to secure a much higher first round choice to pair with their future first, or secure another future first or second (i.e. projecting late first or early second).

He's a great player already, as has been Daicos.

I mean I get why we want to skip the PSD if Freo doesn't want to release him into DFA, but can't help but feel we're being panicked into this a smidge.

Fingers crossed it's pick 50 or higher, but it's a strong draft.

I really hope we've been doing due diligence with that deal and talking to Bowes' management. He'd step into our team as a defensive or midfield option, so getting him on the cheap with a 4-year spread on the contract is just good business.
I said in one of the other threads that the AFL has allowed clubs who take on those huge contracts to renegotiate the contract to spread it out over more years. If we could work it out over 4-5 years then we should look at him.

If the bowes gospel is correct and hes prepared to stretch it over 4 and we arent doing our due diligence ill be disappointed, especially with * sniffing about, could see them taking phillipou with 7.....
Bowes in itself is an upgrade on setters and dow

He has been advised that to further his AFL career, exploring his options at other clubs is the best way to go. If he can’t find a club that gives him more options than we can offer, he is happy to stay.

Agree the lad can play footy, blue tinted glasses & parochialism aside, bundled with p7 one would need to do due diligence and restructuring where possible.
Perhaps with Harry‘s gargantuan contract out of the way & now public, we can get down to the business of trading a little.

It wasn't posters, it was the club that stated he was happy to see out his contact unless a longer term deal could be acquired elsewhere

Reinforces the rumours I heard that there are a couple of clubs that have been sniffing around him. While I reckon we’re shooting ourselves in the foot letting him go, a new start where he’s starting in the AFL every week would do him the world of good.

I would suspect they would take Jye Clark if they obtain pick 7.

2021 he was going at 18 touches and a goal a game as a mid/forward. Reasonable defensive intent too, from what I remember.

No idea what happened to him this season, he took a bit of a dive in most stats, but I'd still be interested. If he gets back to his best he's a better option than Martin most weeks (Martin the better option maybe 3 rounds of the season, just can't predict which ones).

What I like is the versatility. He can genuinely play as that high-flying x-factor forward, but has the body to push into the stoppages around the ground as well. Also a more than fair kick of the footy, so would be another player to play through going into the forward line.

Swappsies with Dow, call it a day? Chuck in a favourable pick swap their way - our future second for their future third (hopefully a pick in the 30s for Pick 37)?
