I don't think he is taking very hard kicks!
Jesus Christ, he is top ten most accurate kicks in the comp and the haters are still after him.
He is being used to clear the back 50, many kicks are 40 to 50 metres to a team mate. You get that wrong and it comes straight back over his head.
Wilkie, Battle, NWM, Sinclair aren't in the top 60, but keep bagging Howard.

I am back from camping.

Tarp is down on the living room floor, baby oil at the ready.

About to watch in full for the first time (jealous?).

I know it wasn’t 10 goals (I thought we were sweet when I opened my phone at the top of a hill to see 34-0) but I’ll take it

If this is what this depleted group can produce within 3 games together, boy oh boy.

Some exciting years ahead.

BRB it’s baby oil time, love to all x
Sort of was 10 goals. Essington was level twice, each time we kicked the next 5 goals.
Love that we did that. Kicked 5, Essington spent all game busting a gut getting back level, we kick 5 in a row again and say, 'try again' druggies.

I'm not saying he's bad at all. I don't mind a bit of Dougs. All I'm saying is that of the kicks I've seen him take a lot of them are to players out by themselves, not exactly taking the long 45 metre kick through the corridor. But that's okay, he's obviously gotten better at making any unnecessary mistakes or risks and we are better for it.

Have just seen Kyle “Atom Splitter” Langford’s first involvement after his banal “tHeYvE bOoKeD uS iN fOr a WiN” comments.
Fumbles an uncontested mark, shits himself, panics and throws it over his shoulder lmao

An uncontested mark under no pressure.

Me thinks Kyle booked himself in for another 5 snags and came crashing back to reality.

Yeah went a bit hard there in hindsight, apologies.
I get a bit triggered by Howard getting scapegoats all the time. He is not SoS, but he is a decent tall backman that is integral to our defence.
Nice to see him hitting his targets and I feel confident when he has ball in hand.

But he is top ten in the comp in kicking counting degree of difficulty

Make sure not to go too hard too early, it will be tempting, but you’re gonna want to pace yourself.

Yes definitely. Edging is your best bet, get the steam up and then ease off when the Bombers fight back in the 3rd, get the steam up again and ease up when the Bombers go level in the last, then finish strong - like our boys xox

A few minutes left in the second, HaMe going mental over a Stringer goal, barely raises his voice when Higgo slots his third…

Nafe Jones making my ears bleed

Elani sucks

Hay-Me had to bring up the Joel Selwood winning as many finals as St.Kilda and of course one flag in 150 years.
Someone told Lyon the Selwood stat and he told them to piss off, hope Hay-Me does the same, love to see a glimpse of dark Ross directed at that scrub.

Some plonker on the Essendon preview thread said:
If the players are as arrogant as the supporters on the Saints board they are going to be in for a rude shock come Saturday. I don't for one instance think we are a good side but I am happy with the progress so far. The Saints board are predicting a smashing and a lot of belief they are a much better side than us (regardless of injuries) and they've turned the corner already and it's blue skies ahead. It is going to be a tight game Saturday night IMO. Dons by 35 with Stringer to kick 5 and 3 condescending head rubs. Congrats on 150 yers of mediocrity Sainters.

Just something to ponder.

We've all lamented the tactic of just bombing it long to King for the last couple of years. Also Membrey's indecisiveness when he wins the ball upfield.

Like everyone else I want them both back in the team as soon as possible. But on reflection I don't think we would've done any better the last three weeks had they played. To think that they they would automatically improve us 3-4 goals may not be true.

What we've seen is a totally unpredictable forward line setup that is highly functional. With multi avenues to score.

Sure, I'm not certain that it's sustainable long term. But equally with an array of tall targets in there, will it be as effective or better? Just look at the Dogs with their forward line overstocked with talls. I think they miss Weightman more than anybody for the variety he brings to their attack.

Don't get me wrong. I want King, Membrey and Hayes available ASAP but it might take some tinkering to get the mix right. Personally I like that fast ball movement to an open forward line with multiple scoring options. Collingwood got to the GF last year with only one decent sized forward in Miocek. I don't count Cox who's a spud.

It will be an interesting problem to have, if we ever get a full list to choose from. Just maybe the makeshift forward line has accidentally hit us on a winner.

Food for thought.

It is probably obvious we couldn’t much better with them in but they play when fit and we just continue with the fast ball movement. If they work hard then maybe like the rest of the team they could go to another level.

How good is this.

Butler kicks the sealer, celebrates with his teammates. Crowd going berserk in the background. Lone Essendon supporter leaving the ground, tail between his legs.

Update;

4:30 left in third, Nas sprinting to spoil, contest, Higgo handball to Butler on the goal line, taunting ensues 😍
