Just something to ponder.

We've all lamented the tactic of just bombing it long to King for the last couple of years. Also Membrey's indecisiveness when he wins the ball upfield.

Like everyone else I want them both back in the team as soon as possible. But on reflection I don't think we would've done any better the last three weeks had they played. To think that they they would automatically improve us 3-4 goals may not be true.

What we've seen is a totally unpredictable forward line setup that is highly functional. With multi avenues to score.

Sure, I'm not certain that it's sustainable long term. But equally with an array of tall targets in there, will it be as effective or better? Just look at the Dogs with their forward line overstocked with talls. I think they miss Weightman more than anybody for the variety he brings to their attack.

Don't get me wrong. I want King, Membrey and Hayes available ASAP but it might take some tinkering to get the mix right. Personally I like that fast ball movement to an open forward line with multiple scoring options. Collingwood got to the GF last year with only one decent sized forward in Miocek. I don't count Cox who's a spud.

It will be an interesting problem to have, if we ever get a full list to choose from. Just maybe the makeshift forward line has accidentally hit us on a winner.

Food for thought.
good post mate and does make you think what the week to week might look like. A team that can be constructed with an eye to match ups rather than just the current next body that can physically get out there. A fascinating first RTB 2.0 season will get even more intriguing after the bye*.

* given we get some respite from our collision injury epidemic

So Suns beat Geelong, absolutely not a given next week, especially if Wood and Webster are out.
Regardless of how well our few Saints went today, I don't know how Wood is covered, has been almost our best this season.

The obese paedophile third lowest rated player on the ground, sub included lmao

The big slug struggled to get into it

You would hope that when king and membrey are fit they will have bought in to the Lyon way of playing. I can see us having a very good tall forward who will pressure more than he has in previous seasons plus also kicking his normal amount of goals.

Does Milera go to the wing now? Either way we lose a bloody good player this season and can’t bring in anything like a like for like. Injuries must bite eventually

Really don't know. Sharman has the tank but not the craft of Wood, Phillipou maybe the craft but not the tank?
Soldiers are thin on the ground. Options are getting very limited.

The two live games I've been to Byrne's end to end running at full pace has been eye popping. He's got himself as fit as any player in the league. He's never going to be a guy who hits bullet passes but he's 100% the type Ross Lyon picks first. He'll be plugging holes in defence then being the link between the forwards and mids or sneaking into a pocket to stretch out the opposition defence. He's a mule with the heart of a racehorse type, they are aways my favourites. Not given anything and earned everything through hard work. Hard not to respect that.
He was very good last night...some of his passes and disposal were excellent.
