Why does it only matter how many we have had? Does the Brownlow medalist from the other 17 clubs not count?

I mean we took Ben Lennon with our pick and Cripps went after it. We took Griffiths with our pick & Nat Fyfe went after it. Thats 2 Brownlow winners taken immediately after the picks YOU chose to use as the examples to show they were "worthless". 2 picks that are both weaker than the 1 first rounder we traded for either of these players.

You are validating moves that are unproven by comparing it to our worst mistakes in a decade & trying to not call it "cherry picking"
Waste of time

WHAT % of draft picks after #14 play 150 games !!!

I think its just time for some supporters to admit the bleeding obvious. This team has been on a steady decline since the 2020 GF. It was EXTREMELY likely that the decision to re-sign both Jack & Trent was going to backfire on at least ONE of those decisions..... reality is its looking like it might be the case for both.

We are probably only a mid-table team. We lack players at peak age to impact winning , our team balance is fairly rotten & has been for 2 1\2 years. We have death-ridden some of our older players far too long & a lack of courage in naming younger players earlier has likely cost us the opportunity to have a seasons where we get that "perfect" crossover of the older players & younger players meshing together to achieve greatness. Now the list is awfully lopsided in both sides - too old, too young and most of our "peak age" players have no potential to become "Elite"
Go back and look at our early season form in any of our premiership years.
Weve been barely ahead of break even in win/loss ratio and have had some very ordinary games.

I’d argue we were the team most likely to beat Geelong if we got them in a final last year and we have added midfield grunt to last years squad.

We’ve absolutely shot ourselves in the foot at the selection table regularly in the last 18 months but our best is still good enough to compete with and beat anyone.

Weve run a very fine line between rebuilding and hanging on to the main core for one last crack and for mine We’ve done a pretty good job of it.

We’ve played 3 sides that most expect to be top 8 if not top 4 and the one side we’ve played that wasn’t a contender we disposed of relatively easily.

There’s life in this season and I’d back us to be 6-6 or better at the halfway mark and we have plenty of upside form wise.

Giving up 2 1st rounders for taranto and hopper is going to bite us in the bum seems like we are doing a hawthorn topping up with ok players like they did with Mitchell and omeara
No because the previous draft we stock piled youngsters. 5 picks on the top 30. Already ahead of that the hawks were doing. They didn’t have that

There is no point me going back to watch our Premiership years to compare to this year. They are not even close.

Those years we had a peak level Dusty, Riewoldt, Lynch, Cotchin, Presita, Rance, Houli, Astbury, Edwards, Toby, Lambert, Grimes, Broad. Over 50% of our list were at the peak of their powers & will end up in Richmonds HOF.

We do not have anything even remotely close to that core hitting their "peak" atm. Baker, Short, Taranto & Dan Rioli are the only players that are "peaking". Bolton should be, but has regressed massively since being paid. Even with him, those cores are miles apart.

The only thing you should be comparing is the list of players we have that we think can help win a finals match. Between 2019 to 2023, these list are chalk & cheese

Just looking at the VFL stats and Bradtke had zero touches and was named in a back pocket. Can anyone please tell me what’s happened there? Did he play?

We got absolutely smashed in.a area crucial to winning a game , forget 2017 different rule and game style we swarmed the ball carriers
To get the turnovers that's why we weren't worried about losing clearances.
We’re not as good at intercepting the quick clearance we once where , broad back soon will help

bloody hell.

so samson is gonna ruck with miller now?

soldo and biggy both injured too?
might see some improvement in CBD performance , nank loss doesn’t even ripple the water compared to lynch that’s no disrespect ,he just hasn’t played at his peak , I expect miller to be a fine replacement

We won a flag in 2020. Our 3rd in the dimma era.

21 was a shocker.. Dusty injury the wild card we had not been dealt before.
22 was an improvement. Fair enough to rate a list with Dusty, Bolton, Lynch etc and have another crack at a flag.
We targeted players that filled needs..
And players like young, Cumberland, Sonsie, gibcus, Miller etc look promising footballers.
5 players had debut finals last year..
Edwards, Lambert, caddy and Castagna retired. Replaced by good young footballers.
We added Tarrant but gibcus pp played a lot. Miller played a lot.

23 Round 4. Lynch injured Ryan being selected and Jack managed is good use of the list. Now Nank injured is a golden chance for Ryan and Miller back in the 22.
Cotchin being rested and games into Sonsie and others is fine too. Leave him as sub.. I rate 300 games.

Dusty absence and injury have been long and he is good but not great..

I actually don't rate our drafting so having none gets us off the hook

You really are just scratching aren't you

How many Brownlow medalist have we got with a pick after pick #14 ?
Jack was a pick #13 back a generation ago and Tom was similar

Now again i will ask you and see if you have what it takes to give stats on what % of players selected after pick #14 actually play 150 games
and dont bother replying unless you actually address the question as you ALWAYS rabble on about something else that nobody really gives a flying F about
Unfortunately it looks like we gave away a top 10 pick this year which will hurt

Bradtke played…sort of…but got injured early

…we also copped injuries to Robbie Tarrant and Bigoa Nyuon.

…this leaves up with only Ryan, Miller as talls/ rucks
