We actually dominated the 1st 15 minutes with 7-1 forward entries.
We often do that and don't put it on the scoreboard. Our 2nd quarters we can be found out once the opposition coach has a word to his players. Our forward entries have been breaking down at half forward. Until we fix that or have a better plan we won't beat good sides.

Coach gotta go
Wait a week , playing at home , 1 change and the belief starts again

Beat St Kilda - which is possible and everyone will be back on the Nicks train . Ladders will be posted , stats galore and everything forgotten

The football stuff you can somewhat apportion blame to the players and in game decisions ( or lack of) but its the other stuff that has concerned me a long time

The use of the sub - it isnt a new thing either . Selection . The change in tune from Wednesday ( Tex and Sloane recognise they will be rested) to Thursday ( we select our best players for the trip to Geelong because its not a ground you try new things) - just the small stuff which says he has never had a clue

Here's the story of the game:

The Score Worm hasn't copied well, but:
--- Crows dominated the first half of the first quarter but could not create scoreboard pressure.
--- the game was lost in the first half of the second quarter, when Geelong kicked 5 out of 6 goals to set up their 20+ point lead and held the Crows off for the rest of the game.
Every time we pulled them back, they got away again, as good sides do.

The ugly.. would’ve been six points down with four minutes to play.

I thought Crouch was slow in disposal, which can put teammates under pressure. The midfield doesn't work with Laird, Crouch and Sloane and with Sloane playing more midfield recently and playing well, we just can't accommodate Crouch.
Sloane had one game in the last 4 weeks where he hit 30 disposals. The other three games were 18, 18, 17 disposals. I would rather berry in there as he hunts the football and has pace.

I think the umpire looked at it and said he’s trying to milk this and I’m not falling for it

It was right call not to give keays a free kick
Yeah..the guy is literally holding him forever as clear as day...but somehow he milked that arm grab around his waist for half a minute..lol

He needs to step up though..his kick early from 40m fell shprt then late on he beat his man and was inside 50 and again didnt make the distance. That hurts in a tight contest and remember that geelong only pushed it out to 4 goals with 2 very late ones
He needs to get on the leg press. He should be able to kick 45-50.

I haven’t liked him for a long time

He is gonna get the rest of the year

Bottom line business though

It’s play on.

We should really be talking about Keays‘ total lack of awareness.

It’s not fixable because it’s Keays not Andrew McLeod. He’s a battler and he’ll always be a battler and that’s just all there is to it.

But there was only one lunge that Geelong player could’ve made and Keays ran right into it. He watched that Geelong player slide over the line and then like a goldfish completely forgot he was there.
It was utterly moronic play

Two Geelong players on the ground and out of play and he still f***ed it up

Watching that replay you get angrier each time. Lift the ball up Keays you idiot, hands free, like the opposition do for every single one of our tackles

Tight group our seniors.

Also Campo spent the whole half time on 5aa recommending they pull the trigger on the sub and get Crouch into the middle.

Nicks going into blustery Kardinia park with three tall forwards despite players talking pre game interviews about how they need to keep it away from Stewart and even used Derwayne's "Chaos ball" as an example.

Walker, Fog, TT combined for 3 marks inside 50 and 3 goals. We lost and missed a genuine chance to rest Tex before St.Kilda.

Also - Matt Crouch. 12 disposals and -16 metres gained. WTF are we doing. We gave him 3 different stints last year - we have enough data. Doesn't fit in with what we are trying to do.

Saints game looms as a massive massive test.
