I thought he could quite easily be swapped for McHenry who has had the tough ask of being sub and then went back and played really well in the sanfl.
Clearly had a very good game today so won’t be dropped.
I think at present offers more toughness than Ned can offer. Last week was his mediocre match, but he bounced back extremely well this week, easily in our best 2 or 3.

Obviously playing a different role this year hes become a much better player than years gone by.

If his form tapers off for multiple weeks in a row he can feel the selection pressure.

There is no way that anyone who has actually watched the Keays tackle things he “dropped the ball”. It was knocked out in the tackle which the rules explicitly state is not incorrect disposal.
Yes, way.
I "actually" watched it and my immediate reaction was "htb". After that, I thought Keays was held.

You and BACCS interpreted it differently. Fair enough.

I'll look at the AFL replay tomorrow and if it was knocked out in the tackle I'll shrug and get on with my life. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it tonight.

It’s not current interpretation. It is explicitly a rule.

See rule 18.6.

Where a Player in Possession of the Football has not had Prior Opportunity, a field Umpire shall award a Free Kick if that Player elects to Incorrectly Dispose of the football when Legally Tackled.
For the avoidance of doubt, a Player does not elect to Incorrectly Dispose of the football when:
(a) the Player genuinely attempts to Correctly Dispose of the football;
(b) the Legal Tackle causes the football to be dislodged from the Player’s possession.
I thought the ball was knock out when Keays immediately gain possession and hung onto and then he tried to milk the free by not even attempting to get the ball for a while.

We need to start prioritising our forward line around Fog and RT. It's a massive concern that Tex is seemingly still our primary go to in the forward line.

It's time for Tex to be the cream on top, and not the cake.
He seems a bit curdled lately.

Yep RT is in no man’s land.

Knocked out play on.

Knocked out in tackle definitely, Keays held too long after only thing working against him was it looked a little like he was trying to milk it.

Probably a wrong decision by the ump but is what it is, they also had a couple bad ones.

You call a step prior.

After watching some of the replay what is very strong from Geelong is how they sweated off our players when one of our players did a smash and grab play and how quick and strong they pounced as soon as we took possession. Was the best I've seen from any team this year. They were physical all day which wears you down eventually. We probably needed to get that handball outside quicker to get more run going. Inside they kill you.

Don’t reckon he’s in any danger from Mchenry … has him covered
Our treatment of Ned hasn't been great.

Dropped, plays a standout game in the SANFL
Travelling emergency

We've been doing similar with Crouch and Schoenberg.

Meanwhile we just keep playing the same 22 regardless of form or niggles, and then we will wonder why our team is cooked by R10.

Neds not best 22. Same with Crouch, he'cooked. Schoenberg isn't up to it. The player that's hard done by is Berry. Dropped after one or two quiet games. Last season quickly forgotten after a bad performance. Instead Nicks has old man Sloane in the middle who can't run. We need to get our best team back asap with players like Berry, McAdam when fit, Worrell, Parnell and give a shot to Keane, Nank and Cook. Maybe even Newchirch if he keeps improving.

No, I said nothing about "prior opportunity"
BUT
get this:
BACCS and Large 1 and Froggy are all spot on.

Thanks to ABAB for that video which clearly shows the ball knocked out in the tackle.
I had remembered it incorrectly. Not htb, play on.
My mistake.
Knock out, still hung onto (hence holding free as no prior) and then Keays tried to milk.

It’s play on.

We should really be talking about Keays‘ total lack of awareness.

It’s not fixable because it’s Keays not Andrew McLeod. He’s a battler and he’ll always be a battler and that’s just all there is to it.

But there was only one lunge that Geelong player could’ve made and Keays ran right into it. He watched that Geelong player slide over the line and then like a goldfish completely forgot he was there.

If there was prior then the tackler can hang onto the player as long as they want because a HTB free would have been called, if there was no prior then the tackler can't hang onto the player as long as they want during play as this would be a holding free. There's no doubt Keays tried to milk it after the tackler held onto him but the initial hold was there.

At 2:16 Ben Keays would’ve kicked this ball straight into Byron Pickett. Nothing surer.

It was either holding the ball or a free to Keays imo. You can't hold a player so they can't go after the ball.
