Geez, I know you are always desperate to hear from me but this is getting a little obsessive dont ya think..

His first quarter was a little ordinary.

but he was brilliant for the rest of the game.
I come in peace.
Who are you, what planetary system are you from :greenalien: and what have you done with our Bearded Clam? Look after him, yeah?

I thought Keays' first 15 minutes were awful, but he was very good after that.
"Brilliant", you say?? <<falls off chair in shock>> o_O:drunk:

Gort, Klaaatu barada nikto.

On the topic of O'Brien, I can't remember the last time he tapped so often to our advantage, especially to mids on the run.
He was great around the ground too; really good game!
He often grabbed the ball from the contest today and handballed it to a player in good position. It worked well for him

Out of those 3 cook is the only one that's actually possible and yes I'd bring in cook for Sholl in a heartbeat.

Taylor is injured and Newchurch is competing against Rankine and Rachelle really so it's a tough measuring stick.

Sholl?? lol one of our best 2 way running players? Cook for someone like Murphy surely.

He’s had about 4 pretty good games now

Not sure if any back to back

Hopefully that’s the next step

I doubt it will be. I think Milera is in the same situation Thilthorpe is in where the thing that's holding him back is his role in the team. Too peripheral to be able to take that next step.

I would say the only thing holding Thilthorpe back is wet weather

And that barely is

Guy is a potential freak

Sholl couldn't tackle a child if his life depended on it.

So regardless of whether he can run, which he can, be needs the ball served up for him and is a liability on defence.

His kicks are overrated.

I prefer players who are actually good one on one and can create their own plays.

Cook and Nank are the future in that role. Not only can they do everything Sholl does, but they are bigger, stronger and faster AND can tackle.

No, I would say role is. With how his contested marking has come along, I reckon he's a 40-50 goal forward this campaign if he didn't share a forward line with Tex and Fogarty.

He'll go down as Adelaides greatest key forward if he stays healthy.

It also begs the question though. Why not bring in Cook, Newchurch, Taylor etc who look promising and need opportunies? If we have discovered a player with a questionable ceiling, what benefit does it bring to the side to continue to play them ahead of players who need evelopment opportunities. We cant just sit back and go the Sanfl is a good enough competition for players to develop. We still aren't in the premiership window, so we should still be granting opportunities to fringe players.
Taylor is injured

Newchurch only gets the ball if someone directly gives it to him and wouldn’t have touched it tonight

Cook is building and will be a decent shot by time he gets a game

This isn’t a development league , it’s time to try win some games and see what happens , not just kick the can down the road

Sholl has his good points and overall was decent tonight (especially early when we were stinking it up) but when the Colossus Hugh McCluggage tossed him aside like a bouquet of flowers it's such a deflater

If we were to make finals, that intensity goes up and there will be no space and it's just not going to work with Sholl.

His coaching has improved but he’s clearly made errors, he admitted to one just a few weeks back, then he backed it up with Crouch as sub. Overall his use of the sub has been poor.

We had a great win but let’s be honest, Brisbane shot themselves in the foot with their goal kicking, we were smashed in inside 50s there for quite awhile. We did very well to pull out the win and it was great to be on the other side this time.
They didn't miss too many easy set shots.

A lot of general play sprays at goal though. Combination of the way Brisbane play and our good defensive work.

At the game with no commentary or looking at stats, it never felt like Brisbane had long periods in control. Yet we did. I thought we were about to blow the game open a couple of times.

We outplayed them for most of the game.

Good

Collingwood - 1 point loss
Port - 31 point win
Brisbane - 17 point win
Melbourne - yet to play
St Kilda - 52 point win

Our record against the current top 5 - and given its half way mark of the season it’s a fair sample. At least our best football is clearly up to the mark

No doubt Sholl still miss tackles but he hasn't gone a game without having a tackle since being recall as this was clearly a weakness he worked on over the preseason. Twice he had an ATH tackles and the another 2 times he has equal his most tackles.
