Have to make this win count next week against Gold Coast. With West coast the week after it we can be 8 wins, 5 losses at the bye.

Probably need 13 wins to play finals. With 23 games to be played we only need to win 5 of the last ten if in that position.
It's like you've read my mind, but damn your speedy ninja fingers.
At 7.07p.m. I texted my sister:
"Gotta win next 2 games before the bye.
MUST win, but Darwin game will be hard work after 6-day break.
We might even be 8-5 going in to the bye!".

I'd be ecstatic if we finished 5th or 6th (home final) to give the rookies a taste, revitalise the veterans and give them all extra incentive for 2024/2025.

Benny boi, 28 disposals, 6 clearances, 11 score involvements, 8 tackles, gut running on steroids...
One of our early goals was thanks to his gut run from half back. Ran 100m and got that little tap on in the pocket that kept the ball alive when it was otherwise destined to be a ball up.

All played well - don't want to be critical of any player after such a good win.

The forward and back lines are developing nicely but the midfield is a long way off being top 4 quality. I hope Dawson isn't the only one at the club who realizes this. This off season we need to be aggressive like we have never been before.

The umpiring was atrocious and for both sides. Surely this one of the worst officiated sports on the planet.

Nah, he did as much in a full game as he was able to accomplish as a sub. He isn't a bad player, but he has a ceiling and he has reached it where he doesn't offer enough for the role we need which makes him a good 23rd, 24th man. We have players that offer much more. If we can work in Berry when he finds his game, Hinge back from Injury, McAdam will force his way in. Parnell proves his worth and was unlucky to be relegated to sub. Smith will come back in. I just dont see McHenry being close to someone we need when we have better calibre players coming back.

Sure but you are talking about players who are out of form or injured.

We currently can only make decisions based on the players available and the performances they have put forward. Ned deserves to be reward on that.

I'm not commenting on his ceiling or future place in the side.

Sort of think Redman is smith even though he does a bit of Doedee in air and smith on ground
I don’t think Smith is done next year though, so he’d replace Milera? Which I’d be okay with if he reverts back to mediocre form, but he’s looked like an auto-pick a lot in recent weeks

O'Brien was superb, towelled up McInerney.
Copped a bit in the gameday thread but good game from him I thought. And not just a normal "good game", but he was doing a bit of weird stuff like grabbing it out of the ruck and going on a small run and getting in the thick of things instead of being the outside option. He was unpredictable in a good way.

Thank goodness Wayne showed us he still had that in him.

I have doubted his ability to get that out of himself for a while now. But he plays like that and he's best 22 no questions asked.

Curious, Wayne plays his best footy in years in a side without Brodie Smith. Didn't he have his best season in the year Brodie did his ACL?

Now that I think about it im not sure I've seen the pair of them play great games on the same day too often.

Milera is an unfair whipping boy in my opinion, no doubt from lazy fans who just want someone to blame for a loss. People just expect this perfection after two years with a very bad injury. He had to develop his game again and the way he plays, it could only have been done at AFL level and he is showing his old form.

Keays is another one. He is clearly one of the hardest running and fittest players in the AFL and has been in the last 3 years. He had to work on his skill but he rarely has ever played a game someone in the twos could have done a better job. If you want to pick on players, pick players who have reached their ceilings that players in the twos could do better.
Agree on both, we're starting to see the best of Milera lately and it's exciting. Keays may not be polished but you need guys who can play at that intensity for 4 quarters. Not all footy is going to be pretty, intact most finals aren't because it's contested as hell.

It also begs the question though. Why not bring in Cook, Newchurch, Taylor etc who look promising and need opportunies? If we have discovered a player with a questionable ceiling, what benefit does it bring to the side to continue to play them ahead of players who need evelopment opportunities. We cant just sit back and go the Sanfl is a good enough competition for players to develop. We still aren't in the premiership window, so we should still be granting opportunities to fringe players.

I thought he's elite fitness can't to the fore I the end and he ultimately wore down mcenerny. Thought Oscar was dominating to begin with and ROB just couldn't get his hands on the ball and when he did the tap wasn't working. But it turned midway through 3rd I thought.

Not the sort of game we win usually. We're usually Brisbane. More I50s, can't score, stung on the rebound. Nice to be on the right end of one for once.

Brisbane completely dominated long stretches. First part of Q1 and almost the whole of Q3.

We simply could not get the ball out of our backline. Smith perhaps underrated given that he's high metres gained pretty much every game. We just got stuck. Repeat entry after repeat entry. We picked a top heavy backline and it showed. Very lucky that they were off with their finishing and didn't cash in.

Our efficiency up forward was the difference. We looked dangerous every time it went in there. Are building a nice, varied arsenal of options.

Mids ensured we got just enough supply. Solid enough against a decent combo.

We've banked some quality home wins. An in form Gold Coast away would be a good scalp.

I criticised Rachele last week for being greedy and not being a team oriented player but this week it showed a different side to his game. If he keeps it up and passes when a team mate is in a better position, he will be a star.
How great was that kick to Soligo at the most critical time 🤩. That calmed the nerves of the players and on we went for the win

Out of those 3 cook is the only one that's actually possible and yes I'd bring in cook for Sholl in a heartbeat.

Taylor is injured and Newchurch is competing against Rankine and Rachelle really so it's a tough measuring stick.

It was, but he could have handballed to Fog for a easy goal also.

Keays is one I'm comfortable in Finals .....would not let the occasion get to him ....and apply pressure from minute 1, to minute 100

He's a player that will lift a side floundering, with his never say die attitude .....every team needs one of those

BRIS had Mitch Robinson
He absolutely has some elite traits which not many in the team have, which is why for all the crap he gets he will be hard to drop.

Plus, he can’t shit the bed any worse than we’ve already seen, right?
