What's Ryan's injury again? He was walking around at the cinemas last Saturday night. Think he took his little one to see the new Spider Verse movie.
Fell on his back going for that mark and ripped his hamstring off the bone didn't he?
*And we sent him back out to run around on it

This doesn’t sound good…

“Nic has had his surgery on his Achilles and he’s got a period of time where he’s got to be really quiet and immobilised. It’s the start of a long rehabilitation process for Nic,” Finucane said.

Not good for NN. Bad chance we won't see him again.
Culley gone for season.
Burgiel and Jones 8 weeks before they even start getting heavy work. So, effectively season.
Ryan now TBC. Yes, in his case TBC = season.
Rotham at 6 weeks. Might get a game or two. Maybe, possibly. But realistically?
Clark on a 5 week plus work up to play timeframe.
And a bunch of TBC's. Most of whom look long term.

That's not just a long list of injuries, that's a lot of long term injuries.

Cripps is about the only one on a reducing timeframe.

And somehow we couldn’t find one LTI ahead of the MSD

Nic may not have had a full rupture like mine, but my Achilles rehab post surgery was pretty lengthy. I’ve attached the protocol for those interested to provide context on the Nic rehab.

I was back ‘walking’ again after about 3-4 months, albeit with an abnormal gait. ‘Running’ was about double that amount of time. I was at about 95% by just over the year mark. I’m almost at two years post surgery now, walking is 100% but I still don’t have full strength or range of motion yet. Pretty close though.

Nic is going to be struggling to get back to an AFL level of fitness next year.

So…

We can put a line through Ryan, Burgiel, Jones, West and potentially Rotham and Clark.

With Harry Edwards you’d also assume unlikely to return since he’s not progressed in weeks now - Cole too would be doubtful, given his lack of footy in the last 2 years.

Oh and put a permanent line through Naitanui.

It’s sad, he’s been a great player but for better or worse, Bailey Williams has finally started to progress - taking time in the ruck off him won’t be helping anyone.

Make the tough call on Naitanui before the draft (and Shuey and Hurn obviously).

TBC
Ryan - Sounds unlikely to be ready this season
West - No recent details but had knee surgery so late season at best
H Edwards - groin issue which hasn’t been elaborated on but need to assume he’s not close
Waterman - Unspecified illness that required hospitalisation for a week so 2 or 3 weeks away (R17-18) at best

In summary, of the 17 players on the injury list only 8 (maybe 9 if Waterman recovers) are likely to be back in time to play something resembling a decent block of games. The rest are either going to miss the rest of the season or might make it back for the last 3 or 4 games at best

Quiet and immobilised...yep that goes hand in hand with having a small kid

Stomach infection for Waterman hospitalised for eight days now improving which is good .
Handy versatile player on his day .

To be honest - clears him out the way to have a bit more of a look at Maric this season.

He’s played a couple of decent games this year but ultimately hasn’t been able to stand up and take the opportunity to cement his place.

Let’s face it, we know what we are getting with Waterman - and it’s basically handy at best, below average at worst.

While the list is still long over the last month or so we have seen a shift in personal with Yeo, Darling, Sheed, Mcgovern and Barrass coming off it and Clark, West, Foley, Rotham and Waterman going onto it.

Provided they stay fit, the quality of the team improves significantly.

unfortunatley the B side remains week which hinders player development

Which happen as often as Haleys Comet passes by

I agree

Stomach infections that put someone in hospital for 8 days are pretty rare
