This doesn’t sound good…

“Nic has had his surgery on his Achilles and he’s got a period of time where he’s got to be really quiet and immobilised. It’s the start of a long rehabilitation process for Nic,” Finucane said.

Those tendon injuries achillese........can take over 12 months easy. Some never regain full use / strength.

"I actually don't know the extent of the seriousness of it either. I haven't been debriefed to the point yet, because he's still pretty raw.

"So when he's comfortable expressing what happened and how he's going, then we can talk about it."

So the coach isn’t even briefed on injuries to the team? No wonder we never know when players are injured or not. Not even the bloody coach knows

Embarassing and amateurish

It’s a non football related illness and as such doesn’t need to be made public

Not a surprise that Simpson isn’t across the full details nor that he’s going to provide them even if he did

On the bright side we only have two more years of this type of MCGovern update.

Pretty sure he'll need to be assessed properly. Do you actually expect Simmo to go straight from training to a press conference with a full medical debrief on something that was likely reported straight after training?

Come on...

lol at guys from other clubs doing knee's and breaking bones and being back in weeks while we do hammies picking up shells on the beach.

As we know all injuries are equal so - Jack Darling breaks arm misses 3 weeks
Jeremy Howe breaks arm misses 3 months
= WC's medical team is awesome.

They said we were playing him in the forward line so he didn't have to run around as much because he was injured.
Playing injured players to continue rotations is absolute pissweak negligence and the club should be embarrassed and hauled over the coals for it. Repeated far too often

Not surprised the club aren't saying anything. We've essentially repeated the Nicnat mistake though I'd bet that McGovern has demanded and will receive bigger money that what Nic is currently getting.

When the recent news came out that he was going to fit for this week my though was great, he can prove it in the WAFL for the next 2 weeks. As its turned out, he didn't even get beyond main training.

Rhino's words "pulled up sore" sounds like understatement to me. I'd speculate McGovern's re-injured the hamstring, at least to a certain extent, and probably won't be available for a month. What a waste of money.

Just on last point - online TheWest (paywalled) going with McGovern re-injuring hamstring. Out for another two.

S & C and medical guys at their best.

Heard on SEN WA, that Jake's Dad Chris said he has a serious
Internal stomach issue potentially career threatening. He also seemed a bit dirty on the club for being late in following up on his issue. Interesting interview, terrible for Jake, really a talented player and loyal guy.

Chris Waterman on SEN saying Jake has inflammatory bowel disease and needs infusions (didn’t say what if) to recover. May need an operation and may be on medication for years with a small chance he can’t play football again

Wasn’t entirely happy that it took until the Monday night after he was sent home from Adelaide before they reached out to him albeit it sounded like it wasn’t until then they were aware of how serious it was

He also said he wasn’t great before the Collingwood game but played through because numbers were so low

Put a line through him for the season and chalk it down to yet another weird injury (or illness in this case)
