Boxing isn't really a thing you should do professionally after practicing for a few months... I mean sure if you can be fed tomato cans.

I just wonder how the AFL and the players union are going to spin this.

If the AFL come out and demand their AFLW players refrain from dangerous sports the AFLPA will just say- sure, pay us the big bucks and make us fully professional with a full season like the men (which ain't happening for economic reasons).

FoxFooty promoting and hosting the event straight after AFL 360 just makes it something that can't be ignored.

A play-by-play commentator should painting a picture on what's going on as if he's commentating to a blind person.

Pre-season games for example, I notice they completely ignore what's happening and just have conversations about irrelevant stuff nobody cares about.

Yep. His comment about needing a wider shot is spot on too.

So much of the tactics of a game is entirely missed by keeping the footage solely where the ball is located. Have always said that you could go to a game and then come back home and watch the replay and get two opposing views on where the game was won and lost.
Agreed, from where I used to sit about 10 rows up at the southern end of footy park directly behind the goals you could often identify scoring opportunities from the first play with the ball coming from half back at the other end, the leading patterns and/or the loose man that created by defenders being caught out of position, and then the options taken by the forwards before the shot on goal.

When I'd get home to watch the replay the cameras were always at least one move behind, and hadn't pick up any of it.

AFLW is still semi-professional, so players should be allowed to do other activities. You just won't be able to sue the AFL for long-term injuries received doing something else. I mean, after this, Tayla can't say any potential head injuries are due to playing football. But it's her choice.

EXCLUSIVE: West Coast’s board has called an emergency meeting over the future of both coach Adam Simpson and chief executive Trevor Nisbett.

Multiple reports in recent weeks have indicated that if free agent Ben McKay leaves the Kangaroos, the club would receive a first-round selection as compensation for losing the key defender under the AFL’s secret free agency formula. As the Roos hold Pick 2, that compo selection would land at Pick 3.
The Herald Sun reported the AFL this week had assured clubs it would not manipulate the free agency compensation formula to help the Roos get Pick 3, even if McKay’s salary doesn’t meet the ‘band one’ requirements.
North Melbourne, as flagged earlier this month by interim coach Brett Ratten, is also in the process of applying for a priority draft assistance this year, given they’ve won just 11 of their past 79 games. The Roos last year received one future second and one future third-round pick – which they had to trade – as part of an assistance package. Ultimately, they used those picks to acquire Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker from Fremantle.
While a similar package appears less likely this year, draft sources have predicted to Foxfooty.com.au the AFL will allow North to pre-list star Tasmanian midfield prospect Ryley Sanders, who ranked eighth in Foxfooty.com.au’s Draft Power Rankings released last week and is widely considered a prospect worthy of a top-10 selection.

The Kangaroos, who remain in negotiations with the AFL, are optimistic Sanders will be added to their Next Generation Academy after he recently received his certificate of Aboriginality. Under current draft rules, clubs that have existing links to NGA players are unable to match bids inside the top 40 selections on the prospects they’ve helped develop.

Jack Ziebell to retire at season's end

Thanks so much for posting this, The Blacks played a huge role in my 20’s. Hold your bowlies the beginning of many fantastic Saturday nights.
Same here. If I had to name my 10 closest friends probably 6 or 7 of them are from my days playing at the Blacks. Visiting Choco's room during uni days was always good fun, given it was close by, when I was doing eco/commerce. One of those mates put down some words about Fred that sums him up nicely;

Today we said farewell to the most all-round talented man I've ever known. A SANFL footballer, he was North Adelaide B&F and a Grand Finalist, he was Professor of Economics and Dean of the Commerce faculty at Adelaide University, a talented musician and singer and, best of all, was his ability to deliver speeches that rivalled the best stand-up comedians, leaving audiences in stitches.

Tasmania are going to have a pretty strong side in a couple of years.
