He said a standard AFL helmet could be introduced as early as 2024.

Nothing learned from the US then, where helmets / padding have just made everyone willing to throw themselves in, assuming they are protected. Improved mouthguards are fine, but really the AFL needs to start penalising players who duck their head harshly. They could start with a big mea culpa, saying they were wrong to reward Selwood for it and if he had started today, then he'd get hundreds less frees.
