In another article today, Jay Z said North would take McKercher and Curtain if they had pick 2 and 3

Some interesting points but I just disagree that we're ahead in any facet. We may have amassed some talent in the middle, but we are bottom 4 in the league for clearances. They are top 4.

You could argue they rely too heavily on Walker, Laird and Dawson, but the counterargument that we rely on Sicily is even stronger. All teams rely on their good players.

Well not even Crows fans think they’ve got the midfield covered. In fact they’ve got a heap of posters on their board lamenting the fact that they are not going to have a top 5 pick, that they’ve “won games that will only hurt our rebuild now” and that they need to “draft mids mids mids”.

So I don’t know what else to tell you.

I remain to be shocked if they get pick 3 for McKay. Can’t see it. The bloke is too ordinary for that to pass. The Sanders rort is on though I think. But we have the good. hand RE Curtin for the Reid deal. Need Freo to win some games or Melbourne well placed too

You don't need to tell me anything, I never said Adelaide's midfield was covered. I said Adelaide are ahead of us in their rebuild. It's something our own senior coach has said, and whether Adelaide fans think their club needs mids doesn't really have any bearing on it. A pointless disagreement.

If Norf get 3 for McKay and Eagles get pick 7 for Barrass, would eagles trade 1 and 7 for 2 and 3? Might be other stuff around it but that would be the crux of it. Norf get Reid their marquee player that gives them relevance and likely Duursma or Caddy. Eagles guarantee Curtin and likely take the Wizard or McKercher. We take the other one.

And the logic of them getting more top draft picks to help them improve seems flawed when they already have far more high end picks than us and still are a weaker team. Why will another high pick suddenly be the missing ingredient when the previous dozen weren’t!

But if it stops the North pity party for good and all the whining that goes with that, maybe it’s not such a bad outcome for the other 17 teams after all.

While I don't rate Rat that highly, I wouldn't have minded his acquisition simply because we need options at CHB. I love the fleet of small defenders we've acquired and reliability from the key pillars are key to unlocking their offensive potential.

At the current moment (before any changes) our most established lineup to release players like Sicily & Weddle is:

FB: Blanck (I rate Blanck as a stopper especially in such an offensive line-up)
CHB: Frost (love his effort but we desperately need greater composure)

We do have a few players on the list that can challenge for those roles but none are any certainty. DGB has been average this year. Serong's defensive work since the switch has been top notch but can he be a CHB? Jeka's papers look stamped.

Are there any potential recruits that could be an upgrade on Frost at CHB?

Way out of the loop, but what is the justification the AFL is potentially going to give to gift North a player for nothing? How can they even be considering a move that just undermines the whole point of the equalisation measures in place.
