It's not fair to expect Teakle to be able to football, everyone knows that all babies born prior to July 1999 came pre-loaded with the knowledge of how to not be ****ing useless.

It’s time to put Burton & Marshall on the trade table while they still hold some value & bring in some players who actually care & are hungry for the contest.

This isn’t personal in anyway, shape or form, I’m sure they’re nice blokes, but nice blokes who play with little desperation are an anathema to football success.

Rubbish.

Trade away todd and burton and replace them with what? Park footballers.

Burton has been fine for years. Opened this season on fire then we moved him around. Our backline is a mess and there’s no real system other than for hinkleys flood to stop the ball from getting back there in the first place.

If we had a proper structure back their burton could play his role easily, like he’s done for years.

Trading him out and replacing him with a lesser player solves nothing.

Same with Todd. Lol wtf. The one kf we’ve managed to draft and develop in 20 odd years and you want to bin him? Good luck getting better results without him.

Ratoguleau is 24 years old I think. If we were to get him, hopefully he becomes a long term prospect. Grundy until Dante is fully ready makes sense.

Esava is 25, but yeah has a few years ahead of him.

The first part of your last sentence makes sense but the last does not. Grundy makes sense in that yeah, we need a first ruck.

No he doesn’t make sense as a stop gap.

If Dante is any good why is he waiting around until 2028 to become a first 22 ruck? Imo he’s only sticking around that long if he’s no chance to crack into another side.

You can see the talent with Scully. It's patchy but he's a skinny young tall, so will take time. Hopefully we'll feed him and get him on the weights.

Yep.

He’s got stuff you can’t teach. Height, reach, surprising body to body work for a skinny lad. Ability to get hands to the ball under physical pressure for his weight. Surprisingly dangerous when balls loose near him to snag a goal.

Needs to work on a bunch of stuff like workrate etc. we have form in being able to install that in players.

I am of the view that overall our list is in pretty good shape aside from a ruckman and a key defender. I agree we need to fast track some of the talls that you named and cannot afford for them to be busts.

Agree most of our list is in good shape, it’s just we have a couple of very bad holes, and mostly they’re because of our coaches unwillingness to play and develop youth in those areas.

Good post mate. You,always make a lot of sense. Cheers.

Stop sensationalising my opinion with over the top, exaggerated theatrics.

Both Marshall & Burton are poor in the contest and far too often shirk responsibility when it’s their turn to go. If you think otherwise, that’s okay, we beg to differ.

I’m not advocating for them to be binned, I’m calling for them to be traded, a major difference.

If we can replace them with two quality players who love the contest why wouldn’t we entertain that?

I’m sick to death of the status quo that surrounds this club and the mediocrity that we now tolerate. One of the best decisions the club made in recent years was trading out a universal club favourite, in Chad Wingard. A dual AA who was the pin up boy of all things marketing.

If Burton can land us Grundy, & Marshall a high end draft pick, I’m doing that deal.

You are using season data where Hayes has played a single game against Jarrod Witts (where he was given 10% less than his career TOG average) while Teakle has played against Bailey Williams (lol), Rowan Marshall (BOG for Saints), Draper (lol) and Todd Goldstein's rotting carcass (who won hitouts 54-17).

HAYES AND TEAKLE ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AGE. HAYES WAS BORN FOUR MONTHS EARLIER. HAYES ALSO DID HIS ACL, REHABBED AND THEN HAD * ALL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY DUE TO COVID.

Just be honest and tell us you have a Brynn Teakle *doll.

Sam is gone. You have to let it go.

This off seasons delistings should be brutal.

If Jonas is here next year then we are taking the piss

So many players don’t have what it takes to be good consistent performers at AFL level
Jonas absolutely wont be.

Someone like Boak will be interesting to watch, he doesn't look like a guy who has 12 months left. That said, he probably gets offered a contract extension and i'm happy with that, we don't have that much depth that we can push Boak into retirement and what he brings in terms of professionalism and training ethic is very valuable.

JHF & Grundy (assuming we do get him) are 2 guys id love to see headed to the US in the offseason with Boak.

I wouldn’t trade Marshall, he’s a product of our dysfunctional forward line.

Not calling him a downhill skier or soft but he’s not the contested ball winner in your forward line and you can’t have six of them either

1. I sensationalised nothing.

You said you wanted them pushed out the door. I’ve clearly articulated why that would be a horrible call.

2. Calling todd soft and saying he doesn’t go is bizarre hogwash, especially in a season he’s had repeated head knocks.

3. What better quality players are we getting in to replace them? Name names here.

What you think we’re getting naughton and Maynard just itching to come here and trading those players unlocks that?

Nah, we would get a couple of picks, probably in the range of 8-16 for Todd and 25-45 for burton for which we would draft flankers who are likely to never produce half of what those players have done.

4. Why are Todd and burton responsible for the “status quo” you want to address and how would trading them out do anything to change that?

The clubs sole aim this off season should be to prune away all the frauds & charlatans, who lack the hunger, drive & competitive nature that are essential to win Premierships.

Our club has embraced pretty footballers to its own detriment for far too long. It’s time to put Burton & Marshall on the trade table while they still hold some value & bring in some players who actually care & are hungry for the contest.

It is going to be a super important off season and I don't think the coaching and list management have the cajones to make the big decisions but you are right.

The most important part of the off season is to find the guys to complement the young core. Well, no second to finding a readymade ruck, a key position defender and a goal kicking forward.

I think 7 news just reported a 2 year deal for Charlie Dixon

Marshall’s output is roughly on par with Eric Hipwoods, & Burtons current ranking points suggest he’s having a very average season in terms of output, his one-on-one work has generally been poor as well.

We are in desperate need for a Ruck, & if Grundy is willing to come to Port why wouldn’t we entertain a trade for him? To do that, we will have to give up something of value.

I don’t know where you would rate Todd in terms of AFLs best KPFs, but he would be lucky to break into the Top 15. IMHO we are better off investing more time into Lord, who is a competitive beast & only needs to improve his kicking to take his game to the next level.

So apparently Grundy is the missing piece of the puzzle. A staggering 9 years ago a player at the same position of Grundy (ruck) was the missing piece of the puzzle (Ryder). 9 years and yet the puzzle is still incomplete.

Untenable.

Can live with that as long as there are performance clauses in it.

Nobody can say he's not giving 100%

Ports SocMed when our eventual terrible re-signings continue (shout out 2 more years of Macaroni and Cheese).

He will be 35yo at the end of that contract.

That is madness.

You give him a year and then reassess during next year.

Nobody is saying Gundy is " the" missing piece

We need a quality ready to go ruck.

Grundy is the best available although I'm starting to think it's going to be too hard to get done. Would be a great pick up.

Having Grundy would be maximising the talent currently available to us in the midfield.

Sweet could also be a quality ready to go option.

After that options fall away a bit but there's a case for Fort even for 12 months. Just a half decent work horse.
