In order to provide a greater than marginal improvement we need a marking presence that improves our clearance game. Not a 5th midfielder that’s horrible in transition. The ruckman that would improve us the most and are remotely possible to extract are Pittonet, Reeves or Darcy. If he plays like he did during Gawns absence it will be well above marginal improvement.
Yes, Queenscliff boy. Father coached around Geelong.Clarke is a Geelong local, so it’s more someone who wants to escape sleepy hollow than someone who wants to come home. Either way, unless he explodes next year they’ll have no right to ask for any more than Ollie, because he hasn’t set the world on fire yet.
He was found to have a navicular stress fracture following his 2nd game and has been out injured for the past 3 monthsI'd also suggest if true it could be a case of buyer beware. A first year draftee playing VFL requesting a trade from a top club would be a bit of a red flag.
You mean planning for end of season trip in September, while Jordy has a massive finals series?Reckon Hawks knew that Newcombe was an outright star when they grabbed him first in mid season draft?
He is doing what JDG isn’t at the moment!
I did not know how his 2nd name was spelled but for a boy who played under 18,s this season he is a big lad and can play a bit too.Thank you.
That is who Stevens reminds me of Jai Newcombe and yes I think Mitchell and Clarkson were well aware of Newcombe,s potential.Reckon Hawks knew that Newcombe was an outright star when they grabbed him first in mid season draft?

ok JebusQuit calling him Allen FFS.
Edward or it is Allan.
Annoying AF.
Like saying Daices.
Idjuts lift your game.
As usual for SEN, they have players on the list who have already said they're staying - Barrass & Allen.
Rolling Rankings: Top 40 AFL Draft ProspectsI’d prefer to get someone in with a body to compete especially as our midfield is ageing rather than someone who’s going to take three to four pre seasons to become AFL ready.
Callaghan signed an extension this year to stay at the GIANTS until 2025. Unlikely he moves this year. He's a good bloke and one I'd want on our list.
For me, not really. He's nearly 24, and is still fairly bog average. I'd rather someone with speed and goal-kicking like Holmes on the outside. I like Macrae more than Dow.Has Paddy Dow’s last few weeks changed anyone’s mind on him?
He’s doing much better than Holmes, who I had huge wraps on.

if he was cheap it be worth considering, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to move, once Walsh and cerra return he’ll be back in the vfl, unless he wants to spend his career as depth a move would be in his interestHas Paddy Dow’s last few weeks changed anyone’s mind on him?PLAYERCARDSTART15Paddy Dow

I've been a fan of recruiting Dow for a while. High end talent, not much value. We take him, we foster him, we reap the rewards. If it doesn't work, then it hasn't cost what Holmes will.Has Paddy Dow’s last few weeks changed anyone’s mind on him?

Holmes is a gun. Has proven his capability. And would suit our game plan to a tee.I've been a fan of recruiting Dow for a while. High end talent, not much value. We take him, we foster him, we reap the rewards. If it doesn't work, then it hasn't cost what Holmes will.
I'd rather play Finlay Macrae or Josh Carmichael or bring Brayden Sier out of retirement than bring in Dow.I've been a fan of recruiting Dow for a while. High end talent, not much value. We take him, we foster him, we reap the rewards. If it doesn't work, then it hasn't cost what Holmes will.
Hmmm bit of a flimsy argument. If you’re an AFL quality mid long term you put up AFL quality numbers. Only one of the three was putting up AFL numbers and coincidentally has been the one to play senior footy this year. On the balance of things none of the three are improving us in 2024.I'd rather play Finlay Macrae or Josh Carmichael or bring Brayden Sier out of retirement than bring in Dow.
Dow was drafted in 2017 and played 71 games for:

Pretty much below average in every stat
He's only one month younger than Carmichael. Macrae is three years younger.

Stats from: - 2023
Yes Dow has better 2023 VFL stats than Macrae and Carmichael but:
The biggest issue is his disposals
- Average 5.1 more disposals than Macrae but Macrae is 3 years younger.
- Average 8.6 more disposals than Carmichael but Carmichael is playing as a wing at times.
- Carmichael kicks more goals.

64% dispoal efficiency.
52.8% kicking efficiency.
