The difference being sides that win the flag/go onto win the flag/have won a recent flag dont seem to have these ‘freezes’. It’s almost as if you wont get a premiership if you are susceptible to folding under expectation like Port/Brisbane have been of recent years.

Thats where onfield leadership comes into it.

Geelong had Selwood for years, Richmond with Cotchin, Hawks had Hodge and Mitchell.

Guys that will smash in hard in the face of fear and break that flight or fight response or lead others out of it into their natural game.

Yep we haven't really had the set the tone & come with me you idiots type leader on field for ages.

Our Spine is the corpse of Lycett, an injured Dixon and Aliir/Mckenzie. Only one of those lines makes a difference. Put a line through Lycett and Dixon having any impact this year.
Dixon is still leading the league in average contested marks. A feature sorely missing from our forward line when he’s not there.

He will be a massive upgrade on Lord in finals, massive.

C7 will have to eventually wake up that Brian Taylor is an absolute Barry Crocker of a commentator, it's becoming fairly obvious that Richo is struggling with his BS, he copes by just fobbing a lot of it off but it's not difficult to detect his frustration.
Interesting small talk interlaced with a bit of humour can be entertaining, but Taylor's inane drivel is not even school yard standard.

He is apparently only 61 but apart from his non stop crap some of his stuff ups are heading into senility territory and he gets it wrong regularly, eg last night's ripper when after a clearance from the back pocket by a collingwood player he referred to it as good defence by Brisbane. o_O

I don't turn the sound down too often and tend to switch channels for a few minutes to get a break but if they return to a combo of BT and Derwayne for the finals I would have to do just that!

He's played some good games this year for a bloke on one leg, I worry about that mashed knee & blokes running off him in finals though tbh.

“I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right ones.”

For example - tell me who from 2013 to 2020 filled Aliir’s role in our side? The answer is no one because we didn’t have an athletic intercept defender like Moore and Murphy are. Howard should have been that guy but he was too dumb to read the play.
Didn't you read Richos email?

Ken has shaped this list several times over 11 years. It's his list and had been for a decade.

Listening to 7AFL 'expert commentators' BT, Brayshaw, Richo and Luke Hodge commenting on tonight's game and I am reminded yet again of how good it would be if we actually had a commentator on 7 or Fox who had some decent insider knowledge of our team and players.
Unpopular opinion here but thats Ricciuto.

So it's Hinkley's list and he says it is the best list in his 11 seasons at the club but you're still "ït's not Hinkley, it's the players".

We should almost be tanking this week. Brisbane at the Gabba seem a much tougher task than a Moore and Daicos-less Collingwood at the G.
I was thinking the same but trying to work out what happens after that clouds things a bit.
Say we lose to Collingwood we most probably have a home elimination against Carlton (form team of the comp right now).
If we lose to Brisbane we get a lucky to be even playing finals team the next week (winner of 6v7)
I agree what your saying is the better option if we win but if we lose I believe 3rd is better.
Very confusing, be so much easier if we hadn’t dropped that Collingwood game.

The style of game Brisbane are playing at the moment is exactly the type of game that we haven’t been able to counter. We were lucky to get them in r1 when they hadn’t gotten it together yet
There danger is up forward but are still shaky down back if Andrews is maned up.
I believe people are reading to much into last nights game, it was only a couple of weeks ago they went down to Gold Coast by 7 goals.
Hysteria can travel fast in sport.

4th is a bad spot because it puts higher stakes on the QF given we would really struggle to beat a red hot Carlton in a semi.

Our best path is finish 3rd, free hit at Brisbane, if we don't get it done then hope we can take care of a home semi and then have a red hot crack at Collingwood or Melbourne in an away prelim.
I somewhat disagree, Collingwood can still drop to 2nd if the lose next week.

I’d rather Collingwood at their most vulnerable, which will be in the first week of the finals and puts us on a path to potentially get Brisbane on Grand Final day.

Why don’t we just try to enjoy the next few weeks instead of the doom and gloom?
We watch footy to enjoy it and have had some really exciting games this year, especially from our young midfield.
If Crows fail to make the eight too that’s another bonus.
It's hard to enjoy when ya know what to expect.

It’s now up to the players that have got us in this position to perform and us to support them.
Just expect this hope we lose mentality by a small group of knob heads will continue throughout the finals.
Stupid is forever.

I can certainly understand the pessimism, it's self preservation, and I think the 'hope we lose' is a bit 'expect the worse and you won't be disappointed', and a bit of 'if we lose I can say I was right all along'. So it's back to the old 'one week at a time'.

Essendon play GWS this weekend so whoever wins that stays 1 win ahead of the crows even if they win against Sydney.

Sydney are 1.5 games clear of them, could lose tonight and win the the next week and stay ahead.

Bulldogs play North so they stay 1 game clear, then a season decider v wounded Geelong. If the Bulldogs had beaten Hawthorn the door would have been slammed shut.

I think Geelong are in big trouble, Saints will be desperate to knock them over at Marvel because they have Brisbane the next week. Geelong lose to Saints and they will pack it in the next week playing #freekickbulldogs.

It comes down to the last round, every team will be desperate.

And if Sydney win tonight it's curtain time.

Bulldogs aren't playing North though?

I get if the Crows drop one that's it - however, they win tonight and easily win next week their superior % will get them in, I have three teams below them on the same point.

It will come down to the Giants Carlton Game and the Geelong Bulldogs game. I guess I have Carlton and Geelong winning - one of those swaps around then the Crows are out I guess..

Sorry Eagles, still 4 points

That's what I mean about the last round, Giants beat Carlton - and their run has to end sometime - and/or Dogs roll Geelong then crows winning 2 won't matter.

Crows have to overcome a 1 game advantage on 3 clubs and a 2 game advantage on 2.

Imagine Tredrea / Timmy G if we lose week 1 in Brizzy and then Crows knock us out.

Seeing as Koch likes statistics so much and that’s why he resigned Ken, stickerman might need to prep some kind of statistics sticker about Ken and aim it at Koch.
lol if Koch likes statistics, he would have never resigned Hinkley, surely.

That’s a pretty good metaphor for what the current regime has done to the club. Even looks Ken lol.
LOL nice avatar

Ken arrives, does a bit of light cleaning. Disaster thereafter.
