Four drones, one hovering 15m above each post, camera pointed directly down. Have two sets, swap em over at each quarter break so they don't go flat during play.
And then the battery went flat.

Just bring in a rule, in the last few minutes all close calls must be reviewed.

Where does it stop? All free kicks that lead to a team having a shot on goal should also be reviewed?

Would have rectified the Luke Shuey "match winner".

On one of the FOX shows they showed that Callum Mills hit the goal post padding with his hand at the exact moment the ball passed the post. This is obviously what the goal umpire heard and since it was extremely close to the post he must've thought he didn't need a review because it seemed obvious to him that it hit it.

They also brought up an interesting solution, which is it gets reviewed automatically and if it was found to be wrong, they simply inform the umpire at the next stoppage and the time resets. Apparently the NHL already does this. Given it would rarely happen we wouldn't often see this, but just the fact that they have the capability to do it would seem to be a reasonable solution. Now just put 120fps 4K cameras on the goal line and we'll be set.
I don't follow soccer all that much but watching the world cup, it was clear that the VAR was checking up on everything and had no problem calling back play to a point if they picked up something that field umpires didn't see. It wouldn't be hard at all, theoretically, to implement that with the AFL - they already auto review every goal and bring it back to where it would've been for a behind, just do the same here, even if it means you're pulling it back a few kicks. The only time there would really be an issue would be if a team managed to get a quick goal from an incorrectly judged point before there was time to pull it back, but I think ultimately there wouldn't really be an argument to complain there anyway.

What is more important though is working out the technology properly so we are making this decision based on footage that doesn't look like it was filmed on a Game Boy Camera.

Can you really see the other clubs agreeing to that?

It's not going to happen.

The crows will piss and fart for a few days, the AFL will say oh yes it's so terrible, then we'll move on to next week and finals.

Agreed.

Everyone else will have forgotten by then because the Crows won’t be featuring in finals.

Remember when Ryder and Monfries (the latter we recruited well before the story broke) were suspended for a year, and we just had to bite that bullet for that length of time?

“CaVeAt EmPtoR!”

Draft picks! Glory be.

If that was in any way a true indication of what the goal umpire saw it's not too difficult to see how he had no hesitation in calling it a point as the ball appears to change momentum when it is in the vicinity of the post and then drops like a stone, but as already suggested that footage has been doctored for clickbait.

Rowe was saying tonight that he was contacted. By a KC [Kings Council] who believes he can overturn Saturdays, nights result. In favour of the Crows,in the high court.
Pretty sure at this time. The Crows bosses want a softer 2024 draw, more draft concessions, or cash of the AFL.
The clocks ticking its already Monday night.A legal challenge will throw the AFL into chaos. If a legal challenge is launched by Rowe or someone not involved with the AFC.

Nah he meant this goose IMG_5695.jpeg

Wot is this King's Council of which you speak my good sir? Any actual KCs on it?

Crows fans acting like poor umpiring doesn't directly contribute to 4-6 goals awarded or not in every game
Hence the absurdity of even considering litigation.

Without even starting on the ownership, sports contract, human error allowance etc etc.

I hope they do go to court though. Would be hilarious.

I’m genuinely flummoxed as to what a tall defender is supposed to do against a smaller, quicker opponent in such a contest.

It’s not like he lined him up, the ball was right there in dispute, he was quite low, and he turned to protect himself (note the angle of McCartin’s legs) at the last second as McAdam was pitching forward.

The Swans will appeal. They won’t win for obvious reasons. But they just have to.

Well they did win.

Up your nose with a rubber hose, tribes!
