Apart from Gawn and maybe English how many rucks regularly dominate games?
Go have a look at the 4 clubs playing off this weekend and see who their rucks are. Briggs is probably the pick of the lot, but he is going up against Collingwood who run with Darcy Cameron and Mason bloody Cox!

When it comes to our rucks you and others seem to be equating 'capable' with 'must be an unstoppable freak of nature'. An understandable expectation given how spoiled we were in Goldy's prime years, but not a realistic expectation.

If the opportunity comes along to draft or trade for a supremely talented ruck prospect then hell yeah lets go for it, but having the best ruck in the comp is no guarantee of success, just as having an average ruck is no guarantee of failure.
Even 'capable' is being generous to describe Xerri. He just doesn't have very good ruck craft. Doesn't get to the right spots, or tap to the right places. If we're pinning our rucking hopes on him, I expect disappointment.

I kind of agree with you. But I don't think we need to clamour for the ruck who will dominate the rest of the 20s for us this offseason.

Darcy, Samson Ryan, and English all up for grabs next year.

A capable ruck to see us through until then would be fine, I reckon.

Moyle? Flynn?
Agree. We don't need to outlay shitloads to get an A grade ruckman, just someone solid.

Would be great if we somehow nabbed a Briggs type; 20 games ago he was unheard of. In the second half of the year he became a top 3 ruckman in the game.

I'm of the belief that Xerri is not the answer for our number 1 ruck. Sure he's had injuries, but for the games he's been on the park, he hasn't come close to dominating a single game either as a ruck or forward. He doesn't have it. We need a capable ruckman ASAP. We need to not waste this rare talented group of mids (with more to come), and give them the best opportunities of getting their hands on it.
I trust Greenwood as a ruckman over Xerri

Don't see the point of doing that for no other reason

Yes, exactly, it would be pointless, arbitrary, and achieve nothing. Exaxtly what ive come to expect from AFL head office.

Sure he is

Don't think one or two seasons in a career twilight tarnishes any players reputation these days. I still consider Tarrant, Wells, Lindsay, etc Shinboners and most would consider them practically one-club players when looking back anyway.
Spud /boomer knew what to do.

All of those players you mentioned - what did they get out of it , an extra 1/2 yrs of cash.
If it’s a job to them - fair enough , don’t comeback to former players day as that isn’t a paid event

These are just a dumb calls. Bloke has played 33 games. Give him a proper chance. I bet you would have been calling for Gawn’s delisting after the same experience.

Disagree with this take. We should welcome back all our champions with open arms. These are mid-30 year old blokes who's careers are ending. Can't blame them for wanting another few hundred grand before they end up.

Goldie (and the others) have bled for our club, they're Shinboners and always will be.

And is dumb as dogshit

In light of the public news on Goldy, how do we feel about the quoted comment?
I feel that you are an attention seeker and just here to pontificate. What was the purpose of your "hamstring" comment if not what I just described?
