Yes we can still take him but it costs us a pick we don’t have or we have to use pick 2 or MaGoo compo if it’s 3, is Sanders worth 2 or 3 is my point.

He isn’t a top 2 or 3 player and we aren’t guaranteed to get GC pick and the Dawks could still take Sanders at 4 even if we did get GC pick.

I haven’t seen our draft list so I couldn’t confidently say where we rank him. We could have at 3 after Reid and McKercher.

I'm of the belief that Xerri is not the answer for our number 1 ruck. Sure he's had injuries, but for the games he's been on the park, he hasn't come close to dominating a single game either as a ruck or forward. He doesn't have it. We need a capable ruckman ASAP. We need to not waste this rare talented group of mids (with more to come), and give them the best opportunities of getting their hands on it.
I'd give Xerri this year as the main man to see what he can do without interruptions and Goldy in the shadows.
I'm not convinced on Xerri but you just never know. Briggs was almost gone from GWS and look at him now.
But for sure I'd be getting in another ruck at the same time whether it be draft or delisted/trade.

Would love Ollie Lord alongside Larkey. No way could Port match a solid long term deal. Would need ‘courage’ to admit his homesickness.
Money talks - long cubtract as well.
This kid is the goods

What a knob

Instead of retiring a one club player with love and affection for all our fans - he’ll go to another club and stink it up and be a nomad

Don't think one or two seasons in a career twilight tarnishes any players reputation these days. I still consider Tarrant, Wells, Lindsay, etc Shinboners and most would consider them practically one-club players when looking back anyway.

I kind of agree with you. But I don't think we need to clamour for the ruck who will dominate the rest of the 20s for us this offseason.

Darcy, Samson Ryan, and English all up for grabs next year.

A capable ruck to see us through until then would be fine, I reckon.

Moyle? Flynn?

That's a bit harsh! Do you think the same of Petrie? Over 300 games for the club - he'll always be a Roo.

What does goldy get us in a trade? Enough for a ontraded pick for a stevens/fisher?

I dont think we'll be using pick 39 anyway

Apart from Gawn and maybe English how many rucks regularly dominate games?
Go have a look at the 4 clubs playing off this weekend and see who their rucks are. Briggs is probably the pick of the lot, but he is going up against Collingwood who run with Darcy Cameron and Mason bloody Cox!

When it comes to our rucks you and others seem to be equating 'capable' with 'must be an unstoppable freak of nature'. An understandable expectation given how spoiled we were in Goldy's prime years, but not a realistic expectation.

If the opportunity comes along to draft or trade for a supremely talented ruck prospect then hell yeah lets go for it, but having the best ruck in the comp is no guarantee of success, just as having an average ruck is no guarantee of failure.

Drawing a long bow. This happens for every other team regardless of where the bid is. It's the bare minimum.
Given the extra fanfare, our behind the scenes effort to get him NGA status and the PP being issued just next week, I don’t think it is an especially long bow to draw. Of course, it may all result in nothing tangible for us, but it is interesting nonetheless.

I think he is a free agent. Given his age I don't think he will add anything to the BMac compensation assuming he goes too.

Twomey said we had an interest in Lycett on yesterdays podcast.

English doesn't dominate games. He looks great on the stat sheet, then you watch him and you think eh, he looks ok. Has no presence at all, and got easily beaten in the hitouts by a geriatric Goldy this year. Gawn did dominate and still does sometimes, Grundy did around 2016-2019. Goldy did in 2015.

That's about it for the last ten years, so you have a point
