So for donuts like me sitting here going "well, idk" .... sooo, we can pick him whenever, but are not able to match a bid under 40 if someone else bids on him? The reason then we're after 2,3 and 5?

It’s the only option if we want Sanders is otherwise take him at 2, 3 (if MaGoo goes and we get it).

We need to get 5 which screws over a chance to trade for 1 using that capital of 2 and 11 for 1…

COULD SHIEL BE PART OF GRESHAM DEAL?

The recruiting world is abuzz with anticipation about whether St Kilda can find a way to secure first-round compensation for free agent Jade Gresham.

He is not worth the $750,000 a year he would need to be paid by a rival over three seasons to trigger first-round compensation.

The open question is whether the AFL would approve a separate St Kilda-Essendon trade for a second player who might transfer from the Dons to the Saints.

Essendon’s Dylan Shiel is a player of interest for the Saints given his hard run and explosiveness, so there is some chance he could be on the move.

The Dons said last month he was a required player, but Darcy Parish’s re-signing means there is a logjam of Essendon mids.

So Gresham to Essendon as a mid-forward and Shiels to St Kilda might be a win-win for both clubs.

St Kilda would secure a first-round compo pick for Gresham (currently pick 13) and also improve its playing stocks by handing a draft pick to the Dons, who could give Ben Hobbs and Elijah Tsatas more midfield time.

But the AFL would need to approve both deals as fair value.

For sure, and I have no idea how much of that was attributable to his fitness, his attitude, or playing in an unfamiliar role.

I do think the forward mix is going to be a really interesting watch next year. We can't play all of Zurhaar, George, Curtis, and Stephenson at the same time, particularly when Sheezel and Thomas are locks. Who takes precedence?
Depending on fitness, in order of importance:

1) Larkey
2) Thomas
3) Zurhaar
4) Ford
5) Curtis
6) George

While Jy and Sheez will no doubt spend time forward, I’m hoping they spend the majority of their minutes in the guts and on the wing.

Some shenanigans to overpay Gresham to get St Kilda band one. Then St Kilda would get Shiel cheap, possibly with Bombers paying some of his contract. Shouldn't be allowed.

Nup completely nonsensical

I dont think he cares anymore.
He wants to play AFL and knows he's stuck behind even more key forwards after this years draft.

Going to crows won't help... tex might only have one but still have Thil and Fogs

Oh god both of these teams trying to out-Scott themselves is hilarious.

They are hurtling towards a cliff with their lists and they don’t even k is it.

Have a think about it.

Yes we can still take him but it costs us a pick we don’t have or we have to use pick 2 or MaGoo compo if it’s 3, is Sanders worth 2 or 3 is my point.

He isn’t a top 2 or 3 player and we aren’t guaranteed to get GC pick and the Dawks could still take Sanders at 4 even if we did get GC pick.

I'm of the belief that Xerri is not the answer for our number 1 ruck. Sure he's had injuries, but for the games he's been on the park, he hasn't come close to dominating a single game either as a ruck or forward. He doesn't have it. We need a capable ruckman ASAP. We need to not waste this rare talented group of mids (with more to come), and give them the best opportunities of getting their hands on it.
