Exactly! Subs should have genuine X factor. The ability to turn a game with a handful of touches.

Lippa doesn't possess those traits. His ability to add value comes from delivering the ball with precision into our F50 and outlasting his opponents as they tire.

Ginni hasn't done this in either final.

You're placing way too much emphasis on the sub. He'll come on and play his usual half forward role, hopefully from the latter stages of the 3rd quarter.

So I guess its a full game for Ginni? In 30 degree heat? In long sleeves? Having barely played an hour of footy in the past month? Interesting!

I guess it says that our coaches feel that we need more goal-kicking power. I hope his fitness base is good enough.

He's a pro footballer. Of course he'll be fit enough. He will be feeling fresher than any other player out there.

Chalk Ginni down for 15 and 4.

No Payne means the Lions are going in pretty short down back.

Hello Mason Cox. 5 fa for the big guy.

Selecting Ginnivan to me shows the positive intent. Take the game on from the outset with attacking flare - I like it a lot.

Equally I feel sad for JFN - love his story - every year someone misses out.

I'm feeling nervous and excited in equal measure.

Have my seat at the G sorted so will there on Saturday.

We can do this. WIN WIN WIN

GO PIES!!!!!!!

I'm hoping with lipinski out that hill plays high half forward, his pace and disposal inside 50 will trouble Brisbane. As for ginni, hope he plays pure forward pocket with the instructions to hit the scoreboard and position himself at around as many inside 50 balls as possible

Gardiner was excellent last week against Carlton's twin towers. Brisbane are prioritising consistency and a winning side, unless Payne isn't 100% fit, despite reports to the contrary.
I disagree that he was excellent... I actually though he looked shaky. Happy for him to be selected. I think mihocek will do a number on him.

We rejected the idea of going smaller and selected Frampton.

We know though that we need to score more to win and have gone with the more notable goal kicker over the endurance runner in the 22. The running power of Lipinski and the influence that it can provide will be only be maximised IMO up against tired legs and on a hot day this should only be more evident when he is injected in to the game.

Ginnivan joining Elliott, Hill and McCreery just looks more dangerous on paper and is more dangerous and I suspect Ginnivan will allowed more moments inside f50 trying to shark the spillage than he's been afforded when coming on late as sub.

I like that combination of small forwards as they each bring something a little different.

We went with structure with one selection but are taking a proactive approach with the other.

It just doesn't seem right that JFN goes from whipping boy to cult favourite this year then misses finals. Having said that I'm not sure who I'd drop for him. Respect to him though for his enormous effort this year, we wouldn't be where we are without his impressive contribution.
