Duursma is contracted, Zerk is not.

Duursma has at some stage in his career demonstrated he could play at a high level (then dropped off). Zerk imo has not.

We offered Zerk three years to stay. We have offered Duursma a four year deal.
Bzt key back= valuable position
Duursma = outside soft poor user, who has spent a lot of time in the 2s recently

I know who I’d rather have on the list

Hurry up Dodo

Put your BRONZE jacket on today
Put your SILVER jacket on tomorrow
for your last day put on the TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT or the GOLD JACKET

Duursma is contracted so it'll get done with some late pick swaps as we'll only take 3 picks to the draft

BZT and 31 for Duursma and 41 or a swap of future picks in the later rounds

CODE Sports two takeaways from that.

Firstly, boo hoo, whoever was cracking the sads needs to grow up and man the fat side, or Kamdyn McIntosh will do it for you.

Secondly, if it means more Nic Martin in the forward half, then I'm looking forward to seeing it, neither can defend their wing at all but Martin probably kicks 35 goals next year.
Do you think that with Duursma blaming others for his poor performances, Dodoro can kind of relate? Dodo is like, "Takes no responsibility for his failures, blames others... this is my kind of guy."

Zerk has improved every season he's been listed, Duursma has regressed from year 1, It's as fair a straight swap I have ever seen. The fact XD is contracted makes it a fair swap, had he been OOC I'd have asked for a pick.

Having said that, I don't care if we add a pick in the 3rd or 4th round, teams haggle over meaningless picks way too often.

Agree he hasn't been great but Duursma isn't soft. Injured and not progressing - sure.

Rating BZT because of the position he plays (as opposed to how he plays it) is a pretty odd thing to do.

It's like saying Zac Clarke ruckman = valuable position

I believe it's a straight swap - but Zerk has been serviceable at best.

We need those picks to unlock the Dow deal though, sorry Port.

Wonder if this ends up being how we move up.

We give away our 2nd, 3rd and 4th and maybe even what we get for Massimo, the other clubs splice it all up to get those players to their destinations and our prize at the end of the rainbow is the Gresham compensation pick.

2 first rounders and then we're out of the draft.

I was thinking we might use our junk picks to move up slightly

If Port need to sell the deal to their dementors in the fanbase, Make it Duursma for BZT and team's swap F3s.

They can sell it as a "sweetener" on the thinking they'll be at the pointy end in '24 and we wont.

I don’t really get why there’s ever any haggling over late picks, the odds of finding anyone good at the arse end of the draft are so slim no matter what the pick is
On our part it's probably trying to keep as many points possible to move up into a late first or early second somehow.

Slightly being the operative word, the late picks in this draft are worth so little, the only way I can see us extracting value out of them is by giving them to clubs that need them to trade for players

He isn’t soft? Go and watch him in the first final against lions. He was meek and pulled out of a bunch of contests. Doesn’t put his body on the line

So we win trade period yet again.

I would say Duursma wasn't soft early in his career but is soft now - a product of the concussions. A bit like our Kelly second half of this year. We aren't getting the early career projected Duursma which is what Port are going to try make out in negotiations. Perhaps he needs training on how to protect himself in contests and that will help him regain confidence.

Wouldn't be too fussed if we kept Zerk now that McKay is here. Zerk doesn't need to take the biggest man anymore and has a clean set of hands when he's free'd up.
He’ll just walk to the draft if we don’t trade him won’t he?
