Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Caddy being on the Eagles radar is an interesting plot twist, especially as it was previously suggested that Watson and Caddy are the 2 biggest flight risks in the top 10.

In an interview the other day Caddy said something to the effect that he couldn’t wait to get drafted no matter where it might take him. If our guys are seriously considering him then no doubt they’ve satisfied themselves regarding the risk.

I don’t mind Caddy at all. As others have said, talls take longer to develop and ideally we get some good young talls in now to give them time to come through with the good midfield prospects we’ve got. And it seems the talls this year are better than next year’s crop.

Caddy looks to be a very competitive bloke, and I don’t think his size will be a problem given his mobility. His ceiling might be as a Jack Riewoldt type.

Not sure how we’d get him, but happy to see what unfolds.
The only place I’ve seen that Caddy or Watson are flight risks are here on Big footy so make of that what you want.

He’s a good prospect and doesn’t surprise in some ways seeing we were linked to both Jefferson and Cadman at stages last year.

He is one cm Shorter than Walter and Curnow. He has a good reach and is very powerful, I don’t see him being too small.

I doubt we draft him, we find out in a few hours I guess.

I’d be more open to the possibility of trading the F1 for Curtin if we understood what the plan with him is. In better times I might have faith in the coaching/development staff to work with him as a blank canvas but I don’t really have that confidence at the moment. The Brander scars are too fresh.

I also loathe to use a high pick on a key defender, if that is the plan for him. Defensive chess pieces like Sicily are great but him reaching that output is the only way that the trade becomes worthwhile.

My preference would be to keep the F1 and split it next year. Keeping a high pick in case someone like Logan McDonald (assuming he continues his upward trajectory) becomes available is also sensible.

Anyway - I’m sitting in a little cafe in Hanoi nervously drinking coffee running Kayo through a VPN and eagerly awaiting the result.

Hope you're well legend.

PS: Still have that signed Tom Swift guernsey?

Nic Naitanui has just arrived at Marvel Stadium for the #AFLDraft. It’s expected the former superstar No.9 will be on hand to present the club’s No.1 draftee with his first West Coast jumper. Harley Reid last month said: “I’ll happily come West and wear number 9!”
@FOXFOOTY

Bloody hell, doesn’t matter if HR arrived, all that matters is that NN is there.

“With pick 1, WCE take Nicholas Naitanui from West Coast Eagles”.

He'd be the last guy on our radar I wouldve thought. Tweener kpf who's a flight risk... with maric, waterman,BWilliams, Jwilliams and potentially culley I can't imagine us going anywhere near caddy

Getting Caddy …. Um “ interesting” is not the word I would use, but I best keep the expletives in check.

As far as being a tall ….. he is 193 cm ….that makes him a tweener.
Rothams height.

Third tall forwards we already have Maric and Waterman and to a lesser extent Culley.

He is a highly skilled player and a hard matchup, so I am not bagging his ability, however, I just don’t see his playing position as a real need, plus there are few other players I would pick before him.

In this interview posted today on Tom Mitchell's podcast Reid mentions that Nate Caddy was to come (now past tense) up to visit him at Echuca along with Nick Watson. Sounds like they are pretty close:

Yeah, really strange call the caddy stuff and gotta feeling it's BS.

I think what you're trying to say is he seems a good get for a club who needs him and has a pick in the 5-10 range, but wouldn't be worth losing a possible future pick 1 for. And I agree with this sentiment.

I explained to someone today that it was a ‘big deal’ and she asked who he (Reid) used to play for and I said his school and she said ‘oh so it’s just some boy who’s not even played AFL yet?’

Mildly humbling. 😅

Yeah just like LBJ just played for St. Vincent–St. Mary High School before entering the NBA
