Huge game, season could unravel easily with a loss and some hard games in coming weeks, a few injuries upsetting team structure.
Havent liked the messages out of the club over summer - 'we expect to make finals'. Just focus on doing all the hard work rather than expecting to win please

You can do both

Anyone that watched the tweet that I posted could see he wasn't moving anything like normal...he was never playing, just the normal ducks and drakes clubs play...Absolutely no doubt the Suns scout that would have been watching the training could see it like just about anybody but you.
Huh? I saw the vision, but need to take Nicks at his word until they say differently. They've said differently now, no need to be a dick about it.

Yeah with no Tex and RT we definitely look a lot weaker up forward

Fog needs to step up obviously, but our smalls will need to have a field day. Does Rankine play predominately forward this week now? (With say Daws/Laird/Crouch/Berry/Soligo in the middle)
I think this necessitates Rankine playing forward mostly this week.

Good chance for Gollant early in the season though, basically auditioning for one spot against Burgess.

We beat port in the showdown last year without Rachele, Rankine, Murray and a couple of others.

The boys will dig deep.
Some of the noise from the Club this year was for the next generation to stand up and take ownership of the club's direction.

No better test first up

I would avoid reading the replies, bunch of depressing sad sacks giving up on the season because of this

Oh dear (re the comments you refer to).. Yes what a calamity, managing/not risking a veteran for a long haul away trip for the first game of ~5 month season 😂

Smart and sensible decision. A night game up on the GC should hopefully give Rachele and Rankine the chance to take centre stage. A win would be a great result 👍

I'm guessing they thought absolutely zero point taking him on a plane with a back spasm if any slight doubt, just let him rest here and get him right for Geelong (which is a 6 day break).

Absolutely. An away game would have made the decision a lot easier. At home, could have been more of a chance.

Good opportunity for the other forwards to step up and for Fog in particular, his time to be the main man 😀

The first 10 weeks are going to be a real test for where we're at

Gold Coast - away
Geelong - home
Freo - away
Melb -home
Carl - away
Ess - home
North - Tassie
Port Power - home
Bris - home
Coll - away

Realistically at best I think 6-4 would be a really good return, but if we get a few injuries and a form slump it could be as low as 3-7 and our season being already over.

Smart move if not right
Don’t stress about winning round 1 and cooking him

This assumes it is a situation where he physically could play and they are choosing to rest him.

For all we know, he's back is that bad that the decision has been taken out of their hands.

I mean Carlton aren't getting any praise for not playing Docherty this week.

6-4 and no excuses to be missing finals

Not even a 50/50 game given the fixture (I thought the AFL was meant to look after us lol), Nicks has learnt from the Geelong game in Geelong last year.......

The club has said it's minor, just that it's one of those things that can linger enough to be annoying and not move freely. Not sure how there's any comparison with an ACL injury...

Depends on how hot/strong the breeze is.

40 degrees with a hot strong northerly is foul.

I also feel that our white Sun burns you harder and faster than the Northern yellow Sun. I actually Tan North of Sydney. Straight to beetroot then back to Pommy white down here.

Losing the Geelong, Essendon and North games would be inexcusable. None of those sides will be threatening finals

I'd love us to be 6-4

However, if we lose Saturday you then have to be realistic and mark down the Collingwood and Carlton games as likely losses. There's already 3 losses so it doesn't leave much margin for error.

Brisbane, Port and Freo will be 50/50 games, Melbourne will be tough and we could also easily lose to North in Tassie.

We could be anywhere from 6-4 to 3-7 depending on form and injuries.

You’d hope for maybe 7-3 at best, but you’re right about the floor too. Need the youth to take another step in general, Hinge/Milera/Laird/Crouch to maintain form, and our depth to be ready and capable when needed, particularly if we’re gonna get more spot injuries this year

I don't think North in Tassie will be a walk in the park.

I'd have us 60/40 favourites, but our recent record away has been garbage so we'll have to be at our best to win.
