I don't think North in Tassie will be a walk in the park.

I'd have us 60/40 favourites, but our recent record away has been garbage so we'll have to be at our best to win.

If we can't beat North anywhere in the country we are no hope of finals

Tell your what, my excitement for this season is dwindling quickly with all these predictions.

if we are finals capable we should win all of those home games, 5 wins should be a bare minimum.

But that being said, I have us pencilled for a loss against GC to be honest, but i thought that before Walker it

I feel we may be in for a bruising with Tex and RT out. Nicks will be wanting to push his contract forward. It will be a test for him with gameplan. Burgess to play Tex role?

When we lost Game 1 in 1997, Malcolm Blight said something similar to "winning Round one is overrated" We all know how hat season ended.

I'd love us to be 6-4

However, if we lose Saturday you then have to be realistic and mark down the Collingwood and Carlton games as likely losses. There's already 3 losses so it doesn't leave much margin for error.

Brisbane, Port and Freo will be 50/50 games, Melbourne will be tough and we could also easily lose to North in Tassie.

We could be anywhere from 6-4 to 3-7 depending on form and injuries.

3-7 would raise some interesting questions about the resilience built into our list development

Let’s hope for the best

No, Fogarty CHF.

Gollant & Burgess to play deeper.

I am just miffed that we go into round 1 without not just Thilthorpe but now Tex. We have copped injury to our 2 best tall forwards at the same time..not that I am wishing injury on anyone, but losing Thilthorpe, a half back flanker out for the week would have been better than losing Tex also.

I wouldn’t say we easily lose to North in Tassie, that’s starting to get into extreme pessimism territory. Given that we were very close to winning these away games last year, despite starting 0-2, I don’t think losing to GC really changes where we finish in 2024.

Wishing him a cracking career at the Crows & fully hoping he starts with a bang..knowing he's rucked on Witts, kicked goals on Collins & loved to massage Luko's ears (ah and maybe stomped Rat a few times)
Let's go Crisp Burgess!👊
I was really pleased when we got Burgess, he has got a great opportunity to start the season against his old side.
Otherwise we would have had to include Himmelberg in the team and Burgess is miles in front of him.

So if Rankine plays midfield and Thilthorpe and Walker don't play, (McAdam also gone) our forward line will be

Fogarty, Gollant, Burgess, Rachele, Pedlar, Murphy, Keays

Immediately looks half as threatening as last year
I don’t think anyone thinks Rankine will play more midfield than forward though

40% mid I’d say as rough guess

And I do think there’s plenty of scoring power in our forward line still
