Is Reeves a certainty to come in for Meek? Or could we bring Ramsden in and play a combination of Chol/Ramsden/Nash throughout the day.

I don't think Ramsden is near ready to take on a big unit like ROB. ROB is OK around the ground, but not to the extend where it makes Reeves a liability. If Reeves can break even with ROB at ballups then he's done his job for the week.

It should he a good battle in the middle with Dawson, Crouch and Soligo in great form. Laird hasn't been as good as he was in previous years, but from memory he seems to enjoy playing us.

Dawson - Nash
Crouch - Worpel (head to head)
Soligo - Day
Laird - Newcombe

We have them for size in there.

We could have had both if Allan came under father and son, as Weddle was selected before him. However we wouldn’t have got Hustwaite, who I think will have a good career.
would have been impossible to have the picks for both as prior to the draft we had no idea where the Allan bid would come and if Weddle would slip to a pick we could trade for

It means that the club is not going to pass over Reeves at this stage for a part time ruckman. They will give him every opportunity to perform at AFL level.
and if he has a good game and sits out rest of season since Meek is a lock, then there should be enough suitors come looking for a mutually beneficial trade.

He is the one of the few ones in our depth players who have any decent trade value.

I like Noodles so I say this with tongue in cheek. Carlton?

I was watching an old boys' match on the weekend, where the players ranged in age from 18 to about 22, and I was thinking of a similar point. If you put AFL-level players of the same age into the match, how fast would they look? There's always one or two midfielders in an old boys game that seem to have a bit of zip and elusiveness in the pack. Put that player into the AFL and how slow would he look?

In fact, the guys playing in that old boys match all probably played with one or two AFLers in their school days. It's hard to imagine how big the gap in footballing skills has grown between them in the last two or three years.

Wasn’t Vanderberg drafted from a old boys team.

Reading Twitter comments makes me feel a little bit better about some of the posters we've got on this board. Calsher against Reilly O'Brien. Gee wiz.

Re Meek it’s an ankle isn’t it? Given I have done an ankle a few times playing basketball ……. would still be on crutches 4 days after! Given he also came back on in the last quarter it must be on the minor side so maybe still a chance.

He did not join the main group at training and only doing light work, count him as an out.
