After a good team effort and win I don't see any reason to change the side just for the sake of change. The team balance was good.

I see only injury enforced changes

Not saying Meek plays, but are we worrying about him missing due to Ginni's radio interviewing saying "he'll struggle to play this week"?

Love Ginni as a player, not sure where he did his medical degree though
Of course, definately take what he said with a grain of salt. But considering he plays with Meek and is around the club to hear things, not to mention he's a professional athlete who's probably had his fair share of injuries and been around other athletes who have possibly had the same/similiar injury, I would pay a little more attention to what he says over say a non-athlete outside of the club making a casual observation.

Whilst not advocating for him to be included this week and without knowing contract status, we need to be mindful of Harry Morrison.
If he was out of contract this year there is no guarantee he would receive another contract and with 5 games to go to be father son eligible, it would be gross list management incompetence if we didn't get him to 100 games especially as in likelihood we will not be playing finals.

I'm dirty we didn't get Dan Howe to a 100 because you just never know and going back even further, Dean Anderson was only 12 games short (granted rules have changes) but look what Noah is doing at the Suns....

With compromised drafts, you never every advantage you can get

Morrison is out of contract end of this year and you couldn’t begrudge him if he looked elsewhere for more opportunity. I would love to get him to 100 games, could be a perfect choice for the sub in up coming games. His form, cool head and experience warrants it. Leaving O’Meara on 99 games is one that might be regretted in years to come.

I think “gross list management incompetence” is a bit much.

The odds of any given former Hawthorn player (regardless of their F/S eligibility) having a son that is AFL standard isn’t actually that high to begin with.

We’ve got a few good ones on the list now plus Anderson who was close to being eligible which might make it seem like there is an abundance of them, but there are way more who didn’t make it that we wouldn’t even know the names of. Even the boys who made it onto the Hawthorn list have brothers that didn’t make it.

So I doubt selection in 2024 will be taking into consideration the F/S eligibility of a child that doesn’t and may never exist.

That all being said, I can see Harry reaching 100 games with us this season on his own merit. It’s a long season and there will be injuries and form drop offs. He’s played 4 for the year and needs 5 more, which will be a total of 9 games, the minimum amount he’s played every season since 2018.

Fair chance we will have enough injuries throughout the year he gets to 100, but i am not gifting games to someone just so they can reach 100 on the off chance they produce a talented kid.

How would i midfield look right now with Noah Anderson in it? We aren't playing finals so it is a no-brainer as it is a free hit, Additionally he has been a great clubman so deserves the milestone.
Looking after your players also helps with recruitment.

ps - this is in no way me death riding Harry - I would love for him to be re-contracted if form dictates.

Considering Harry doesn't have a kid yet and that possibility is at minimum 19 years away from bearing fruit, I'd say it's not really worth it. If non-QLD and NSW clubs get what they want with academies, there's no guarantee father son will continue in its current state for that long anyway.

Its a fair point and no brainer for mine. Look at Dean Anderson and Ben Allan (which luckily didn't hurt us cos we miss out on Day and Weddle if we had to match those bids). Have Harry as a sub for 5 games if we need to.

Well if we had Anderson we would almost certainly not have Day so i am not sure it looks much better at all.
Also he deserves it if he reaches it, that is how sport works.
Lastly Looking after players helping recruitment is such a myth it is not even funny.

If he gets to a 100 he should be celebrated, if he doesn't so be it.

If Harry's bearing potential F/Ss as fruit then I hope he has a pear.

Another mid table team should see us in with a real chance. Especially if Rankin is still out.
Bring intensity and pressure, convert our chances and we should get home.

I don't rate Adelaides backline. If supply is good we should kick a winning score.
I think we match up against them pretty well defensively. I don't think they have the type of forward that can really get a hold of us, that 200cm strong contested marking type.

Provided we can continue our good clearance form and make Dawson earn all his touches we should be really looking to win this, and comfortably if we can limit their score from turnover which we have been really good at the past 4 weeks.

Unchanged or Watson for MacDonald
I’ve been hard on MacDonald and thought he could’ve potentially been dropped earlier in the year but no way should he be dropped after last week- he was working his ass off in that last quarter when Brisbane were threatening - put on a massive tackle for holding the ball and also kicked a big goal to help snuff them out… stays in the side for the foreseeable future you would think…

We seem to get better value out of our mid tier players than our superstars for F/S.

There was also that moment on wing with 5 minutes to go where he essentially stole it out of arms of Lions player which eventually lead to that goal from Gunners.

yes, as of this weekend, 12,581 men have played at least one game of AFL football (not VFL) and in that time there have been a grand total of 119 father-son selections in the draft, of which 54 have/had played more than 10 games.
certainly would be gross incompetence if they didn't play Harry into 100 this year.

What percentage of those players would have had playing age children by now? 60%?

So that's 1 out of every possible 170 players had a son that goes on to play meaningful AFL footy.

I’d ignore both and wait for the club injury report.

Imagine how many of those 12,581 had sons……who turned out to be not talented enough…..to warrant a national draft selection, let alone a club father/son selection.

Must be at least 3000, probably more.

It’s almost as if the likelihood of an AFL standard player producing another AFL standard player is 1/50 at best.
