Great day. I am flying. Still have the "after glow"
I thought he was ok, did a role.... very tough gig against Aliir - a much taller and presumably stronger guy....At times yeah, but others he just got outmarked by taller opponents with a better leap.
There were a few we just needed him to bring to ground, especially in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
I like Kennedy as a player, but it was a glaring weakness last night. It's just an area of our team we will need to work on.
The expression of spiritual relief. And the jubilation on his face after every goal he kicks is great viewing.
What must Port be supporters thinking after a decade of a head coach they’ve wanted rid of for years and an assistant coach they had for 7 years now thriving as a head coach at a different club. Damn.View attachment 2005884
Have a good night KENNY!
I know it's best to mute the commentary, but they pretty quickly alluded he was just winded moments after mentioning the concern on Voss' face.Yes, it now seems that TDK was only winded. But live and how TDK looked on the bench, it looked like a pretty bad arm injury.
Gee their midfield was ordinary...What must Port supporters thinking after a decade of a head coach they’ve wanted rid of for years and an assistant coach they had for 7 years now thriving as a head coach at a different club. Damn.
Gets to the right spots and gets boot to ball quicker than anyone in our side. After collingwood, I am thinking, how are we a finals threat with no medium or small fwds that win ground balls. Then williams comes along. His crumbing is the difference between scoring 80 to 85 points and 100+.
Mick McGuane doesn't even have Cripps in his mid-season AA in today's Hun column. Is Cripps AA Captain this year? (Acknowledging that Darcy Moore also a real contender...)
IF ...
there is a better three minutes of personal impact in a match this year than Patty Cripps’ opening to the final quarter of Thursday night’s game against Port Adelaide ...
THEN ...
nah, there won’t be. Wow. In actually less than three minutes of game time, Cripps kicked two goals, racked up a goal assist and pumped another ball inside 50 which resulted in a Blues goal. What a leader. What a player.
Pitto gets pinged every week for bracing his arm out during a ruck contest (push). Soldo did it many a time and TDK got nothing. I realise there's a lot of grey adjudication in our game, but time to ditch the 4 umpires and go back to 2 so the level of consistency of calls during a game is better. 4 umpires of different competencies in game leads to 4 different points of view in grey areas.Agreed.
I was so hoping that boundry shot on goal would make it (ended as a rushed behind) but that control and execution would have made it Goal of the year.
Shout out to both Raz and Owies. Even though they did not score, they were both involved in scores. Owies must have had at least 7 assists. Would love to see the stats to confirm. (edit: three assists that I reviewed on the highlights 2 for williams and 1 for Cinc).
TDK's body was continually hammered by Soldo through out the game. Soldo constantly made sure that he kneed TDK at every centre bounce and fended TDK off (above the shoulders) at the throw ins. To the very last minute where he tunnelled TDK right in front of the bench.
JHF was a bull for Port, strange move in the last to push him forward as I thought his clearance work was what kept them in touch.
Loved the way our team worked together. Still need to adjust forward entries as we gave AA and ER time to impact Charles and Harry
Funny you mention reducing the numbers of umps. Was discussing that very point with a couple of other fathers at our kids training last night. Less interpretation for the players to deal with, more consistency (maybe) in adjudications.Pitto gets pinged every week for bracing his arm out during a ruck contest (push). Soldo did it many a time and TDK got nothing. I realise there's a lot of grey adjudication in our game, but time to ditch the 4 umpires and go back to 2 so the level of consistency of calls during a game is better. 4 umpires of different competencies in game leads to 4 different points of view in grey areas.
MM is a dolt.Mick McGuane doesn't even have Cripps in his mid-season AA in today's Hun column.
What about when he's our equal-2nd leading goal kicker? It's a good point - where do you fit Cunners, Marchy, Martin, Cerra, Pitto, etc. into the team?
Fantasia comes out - who else? You can't really drop Owies given he's our 3rd leading goal kicker. Kemp / Cowan don't deserve to be dropped. Williams isn't getting moved out of the forward line. Cinocotta / Fog are undroppable.
Only concern for me is our 3rd tall forward if we are going to play 1 ruck.
Wild. He's probably top 3 or 4 in the Brownlow votes atm. Only definitely behind Heeney so far....Mick McGuane doesn't even have Cripps in his mid-season AA in today's Hun column.
Dont agree, he’s got no issues getting 30+ at vfl level. Dont see why he can’t grow into the kind of player that gets it 25 times and keeps his opponent in check. Something like the role that Drew plays, or what Ed curnow used to do for us.Sure. Just, expecting him to gather 30 disposals without someone leading him to the ball is too much for me. He's not a natural mid and wouldn't be in there without the role.
Gulden, Heeney, J.Daicos, N.Daicos, Bont,Warner, Merret are his general mids in the team.Wild. He's probably top 3 or 4 in the Brownlow votes atm. Only definitely behind Heeney so far....
And the jubilation on his face after every goal he kicks is great viewing.
I was genuinely concerned about their mids but they really do like the game on their terms.Gee their midfield was ordinary...
Drew, Boak, Wines, Butters - none really fired a shot.
JHF their only bright light...
And Freo posters tried saying he used to be a squib spare meIs there a more clutch wingman than Acres?
It's genuinely amazing how frequently he does big things in 4th qtrs at both ends of the ground.
