If it is wet then that often benefits players who lack pace. I loved playing in the wet. ;)

Problem is it doesn't suit talls and we seem to be picking a tall side ATM

Wardlaw will be BOG.
He might want to get more than 16 disposals if he has thoughts of being BoG.

It may work for JHF but doesn't seem to for anyone else.

The weather we escaped last week might catch us this week, but as always it keeps changing...
Hutchinson is a surprise in, although we did play Maric quickly (different circumstances, we were desperate for players).
Suggests we're desperate for a win (which we are) and will stack it anyway we can, especially with key mids out.
Presume Snake plays as well, so Maric might be unlucky.
If Hall is somehow selected, wouldn't be expecting too much from him.
Curious to see how Culley performs if picked.
Can we get supply to the forwards...

Just watching the game in my head and can see a frustrating, chances galore, close loss and twitter piling on us (again)

I gotta be honest, if Hutchinson wasnt playing I might not have watched this game.
  • 2 worst sides in the comp in the wet
  • No Harley
I could have found better things to do on a Saturday.

I have this penciled as an infuriating loss for sure. I think we are just going to get run over in the midfield late again after not being able to put a score on when we are on top. We need all our first choice mids available to be able to stay in the hunt and we need a forward line that can be efficient.

2.5 in the first quarter vs the Saints needed to be a 5.2 to give us a big enough lead to hold on late. Reminded me a bit of 2017 tbh. Dominant first half and then just falling away and getting run over.

I think we win this one pretty comfortably actually. North are mostly uncompetitive and we are at home. Even with the outs we will get this one I think. They just suck tbh

North have been beating us while they sucked though and we fell over the line at home against them with this lineup:

Admittedly Barrass and Gov down back is a huge boon but we are really not lining up much different

- Hurn, Bazzo, Hunt. Long, Hewett, TK, Allen
+ Barra, Gov, Yeo (struggling), Ginbey, Flynn

Our midfield is probably worse. Forward line probably slightly worse too even if Jake is back. Unsure how this is even possible, yet here we are.

Woof. This has big "oppo poster will stealth-quote on their own board" energy.

I think whoever wins will do so by only a couple of kicks, and like the Saints game this will be close for the majority of the match. We are both sh*thouse sides and its gonna be a wet track.

Norf will be eyeing this off as one of their only "winnable" games of the season. Expect them to come out ready for a scrap, and every goal will be celebrated as if its a Grand Final.

Backs should be fine, as long as we aren't too tall and the supply isn't too easy. Mids is scary and really needs Yeo to play a blinder. Great opportunity for someone to put their hand up. Forwards should be ok if Waterman plays and we get the mix right.

If TK and Harley where playing instead of Gaff and Sheed, I would expect a 10 goal win.

If Culley plays I'll be watching to see how often he goes to ground in contests . Wouldn't be so bad if he actually wins contests and disposes it from his knees to an outside player . Maybe going to ground he tries to hide the lack of pace in a chase if he loses the clearance .

Having a dig at Culley before he has even been selected or played the game.

Our backline is significantly better, and our midfield is stronger with Flynn in there now. Hewett in his first few games and Sheed as our second mid was not a strong midfield, Yeo + Ginbey this year is at the very least comparable.
Forward line weaker, but their backline is significantly weaker too. We also have Flyin back which you didnt mention

Backs - McGovern, Barrass, Witherden, Hough, Duggan, Cole plus one of Rotham or Edwards

Rucks - Flynn, B-Will

Mids - Yeo, Ginbey, Chesser, Gaff, Sheed plus one of Trew, Hall or Culley

Fwds - Darling, Cripps, Ryan, Petruccelle, Jones plus Waterman (if fit) or J-Will if he isn’t and one of Culley or Maric

Sub - Hutchinson

Dewar an outside chance to get the last forward spot

Midfield is a concern with all of Kelly, Reid and Hunt missing it lacks clearance players and pace

Forwardline is ok assuming Waterman has a good to go. If he isn’t it lacks a bit of firepower with J-Will likely to play in his place although weather might dictate that Culley, Maric or Hutchinson play to avoid us being too tall

Fair call on Ryan. I did forget about him.

I think Flynn is more hope than proven at this stage and our midfield is stinky, however you slice it. This is where we lose it IMO. Ginbey is going to need to find some swagger from somewhere this week, Yeo is underdone and is a good chance of breaking if he has to try and do it solo.

I dont understand this thing people(not just you) have about Flynn, hes not some unknown plucked from the VFL/WAFL. Hes an AFL quality ruckman who has been stuck behind some very high quality rucks over the last few years. First Shane Mumford, then Kieran Briggs last year.
He is a clear upgrade on Bailey and is a more than servicable first ruck.

Midfield isnt amazing but its comparable to last year is what I meant.

Our defence should absolutely clean up, Larkey has been well held this year, even against much weaker backlines. Hurn was the Larkey matchup late last year and I expect TB to do an even better job. Hough is much better than last year. We will be fine

I can picture Snake and Hutchy being an awesome duo in the forward 50, both quick, agile and excellent in the air - could be a nightmare for defences with good supply.
